Originally posted by Majestic Head Swings! Sven Vath? There's a name I ain't heard in a LONG LONG time. But really, none of the above. Ideally they should produce it themselves, but if that's not a runner then I'd really like to see Jim Steinman doing an album of piano ballads with them. You think I'm joking...

I don't even remember posting that one!!!

I've really never heard of most of these people either, they sound like a bunch of porn stars to me.

I say now Jason Pierce, and get the 100 piece orchestra in. Only trouble is we may not see it for 5 years...

shoot....I don't know 99% of those listed. I've never much liked anything Arthur Baker has done so I can't pick him. Stephen Hague did such wonderful stuff for NO so he's got my pick. I wouldn't mind PSB producing NO...or at least remixing them...

But then NO did a fabulous job producing Get Ready!!!! They've got my vote as well.

Anita, I'm afraid you're going to get lots of posts telling you that NO DIDN'T produce Get Ready... and this is the first one

I'd really like they produced themselves, but Flood would also be great...

I'd like to see someone new produce it. Give it a fresh sound. Keep the traditional neworder elements there (hookys bass, guitars, a bit more synths than on get ready) but maybe give it a kind of dark electro feel - I dont know. Anyway bit less predictable than recent work, more an evolution of the New Order sound. Dont really want another heard all before and better album. I think the stuff with the Chemicals was good epecially Out of Control (although not essentially a New Order song)

In a perfect (and somewhat imaginary) world, is it not possible to hark back to their roots and produce the new material by themselves; incorporating the spiritual essence of Martin Hannet.

Ignoring the popular charts, compose an album based entirely on new directions which bring new twists to the core NO sounds; bass, vocals, drums and synths. Let dance re-mixes float away from the equation and focus only on extracting the maximum potential from their new songs.

A producer is not necessary.

I've forgotten his name but I think the producer who works with, among others , Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips would do a nice job of a New Order album.

Could the band handle doing *that* much acid in their old age? I think the product of such a collaboration would blow everyone's minds...

You're forgiven, Anita. And the producer was Steve Osborne!

I didn't vote for anyone either; I think NO should produce it themselves. That way, they're in total control and it'll sound exactly how they want it to.
