Let's see if we can make a list of things that will need a release someday... of material not available to the mass public (released on vinyl or in promo only) and very hard to find material.

Atmosphere - Peel Sessions 1998 Isolation - Peel Sessions 1998 True Faith - Peel Sessions 1998 Paradise - Peel Sessions 1998 Touched by the Hand of God - Peel Sessions 1998 Rock The Shack - Lamacq Sessions 2001 Your Silent Face - Lamacq Sessions 2001 Slow Jam - Lamacq Sessions 2001 Close Range - Lamacq Sessions 2001 True Faith (Morel Remixes) True Faith (Philip Steir Remixes) True Faith (Esecreamer (sp?) Alright, I don't want to too deep in the dubs... ;)

I know many people don't like edited version, but I find them useful when doing a CD and you want to put as many songs as you can :D

"I know many people don't like edited version, but I find them useful when doing a CD and you want to put as many songs as you can "

Hmmm... does this mean someone from this site is making a CD? An bootleg CD set filled with goodies for this Christmas?

You know, whoever has these tracks can transfer them to CD and make ALOT of money. I'd pay for them. You guys need to join forces and make a NOOL exclusive bootleg box set.

Picky I know, but:

Vanishing Point (Making Out Mix) is on the regular UK Round & Round CD single.

Round & Round (Ben Grosse) is on the UK 3" Round & Remix CD Single.

Touched By The Hand Of BIAS is on a CD compilation called "Manchester United - Beyond The Promised Land"

Sister Ray (Live) was on "Like A Girl I Want You To Keep Coming" which was released on CD (though granted, it's probably quite rare).

Confusion (Rough Mix) is on the Arthur Baker Breakin compilation CD.

Confusion (Original) is going to be on Retro.

Hurt full version is on FEP313, released on CD in Canada!

Evil Dust is on the True Faith CDV and also a complilation CD of all the Funky Alternatives albums.

True Faith (Remix Edit) is on the True Faith CDV.

Best & Marsh 7" is on the Round & Round CD single. (It's the 12" version that's not on CD)

I have nearly all of those tracks listed above, as Old Blue says, some are still available on CD if you look hard enough (such as even the Best & Marsh 12", on a Canadian CD single, I believe).

Anyway, my list of New Order tracks at http://www.morriso.btinternet.co.uk/NewOrderTrackList.html may be useful as to what's out on what formats, although I don't quite have everything, as you'll see at the bottom of the list.

In fact, I've got all but the new 'Confusion Remixes' burned to CD, via a Technics 1210 and a decent pre-amp, and very good they sound too!

Ceremony 7" and the green 12" (whithout Gillian) are the same. This version is much more powerfull and bright than the cream/blue 12" (on substance) Also missing:confused beats, on substance the instrumental is called confused instrumental but according to the 12" it is confusion instrumental tracklisting of confusion 83 12": A Confusion/Confused beats B Confusion instrumental/Confusion rough mix

and True faith remix 87 (shep pettibone)one of their best 12" and Blue monday 88 one of their worst...

Appendix: 90's stuff stinks and most of their remixes are just ridiculous and should be forgotten. (heard EGG Dave clarck or BM95?..The worst Dj of the third world couldn't hear those shits)These guys should better have stopped everything after Low life..Be honnest, whithout Blue monday or Confusion in 83 no one would be talking about New Order in 2002. Now the best they have to do is called them back Joy Division, they are playing these old songs very well live and stops breaking ears with sequenced songs badly done live (BLT or TBTHOG for example) I have seen them in 89 for the fine time tour, the worst concert of my life.

One thing to add to the "not on CD" list is the Sunrise Instrumental Rough Mix, only available on cassette.

The Advent mix of EGG is on "Volume 15"

The Out of Order mix of Spooky is on "Vorsprung Dyk Technik"

Why's Nic listed it though? They must've played Sister Ray a dozen times - why pick this one? Did it get released on some compilation at some point?

Go to http://www.niagara.edu/neworder/compilations/lagiwtkyc.html. It's on a various artists compilation from a decade or so ago. I managed to find a CDcopy at an online record store last month, so it's not hard to get hold of. I wouldn't worry about chucking it on a future boxed set!

"Best & Marsh 7" is on the Round & Round CD single. (It's the 12" version that's not on CD)"

Nice avatar, Don. Reading 89 if I'm not mistaken?

Cheers, its from the front cover of my Lorely (spelling?) Festival bootleg from '93 , he's wearing a yellowish jumper. Was it not a shirt he wore at Reading '93 which he took off to reveal a t-shirt later on??

Can't remember what he wore at Reading 93 (red shirt, maybe? That did a couple of gigs that year). Think your pic is Reading 89 where he wore a fawn crew-neck jumper with cut-down jeans. And he had that floppy haircut which went on to be so synonymous with the GAWI photo sessions (Barney with flicks!). I remember cos I went out and bought a fawn jumper which was very similar - but made by Appaloosa who were sponsoring the Mondays at the time.

What's "not useful" about the TF CDV? You can put it in your CD player and listen to the audio, you know!!

Anyway, I thought this thread was about what stuff isn't on CD, not about how rare or desirable existing CD's are!

Sounds about Right Al, I seem to recall a white shirt similar to Acadamy '87 (tho obviously not as tight!) was worn at Reading 93?? The red shirt - was that not the lumberjack affair he wore at the Montreaux Festival?

The actual pic the avatar is taken from isnt much bigger than the scan so its hard to tell much more to be honest! I'll have to check out the 89/93 videos now!

I always assumed it was from the Lorely Festival itself - although I know you were there and commented Reading,so obviously its not!! Incidently what was worn at that festival..?

And yes he's got a very 'early electronic' look about him hasnt he!

Right. Mr Discography clears things up...

Based on my massive New Order collection (which you can read at http://www.morriso.btinternet.co.uk/NewOrderTrackList.html) I have compiled a list of stuff which I've never managed to track down on CD. I'm not even sure some of these tracks even exist, as a few are still in my "wants" list, even on vinyl. But I've been hunting in records shops and online for many years now, and have obtained all other tracks in CD versions.

Use whatever you feel necessary, by all means. It's all accurate, as they've all been timed by myself!

I'm looking for the Canadian CD singles of:

Fine Time Round & Round World In Motion

But I can't find these things anywhere! Any ideas?

is there a different version of the Weatherall slow 'n sabres (i think thats the name) mix of Regret? On my cd the end just fades out but i'm pretty sure i have an mp3 of it where it has a more distinct finish

hope that kind of made sense

Which CD do you have it on? My UK 12" and French promo both last 12:50 and come to a fairly distinct ending.

i know its not nice to complain, we got the nine trax bonus, but they could have fit a few more of these short B-sides / rare tracks on the bonus disc... and its a shame that the first version of Ceremony and the nice original 7" Temptation version (of the most played live song, and the most popular song with the fans) have not seen the light of day.

... it all seems like sort of a missed opportunity, so poorly planned... i mean, like, it ends up that they had SIX to SEVEN CD DISCS to work with... !!

4 Retro discs 1 Retro bonus disc 1 International disc 1 International bonus disc in France and the USA

that is over 8 hours of potential CD time!

it all seems so poorly planned... and i'll have to hear better arguments about why London is to blame or that New Order is trying to get out of their contract, thats bollucks... Barney wants to be a big pop star like Morrisey and the Pet Shop Boys (oh wait... you mean that they are not big pop stars anymore, its not 1986 anymore?)

Useful list. Now that would have been a nice box set. Aren't some of those WIM mixes on the not-very-hard-to-find UK/US version of the cd single? They come up on ebay periodically. I have the Someone like you mixes on a promo cd (what's a smug smiley?)

Got a copy from a used record shop about a month ago. You can still find some gems in Montreal.I bought BLT 7" gatefold and Murder 12"(i've lost it several years ago) last friday.

Also bought Temptation 12" and TPK 12".I already had these ones but everytime i see one, i feel i have to buy it. Am i crazy or what?!?! TPK has a different inner sleeve, it's blue/white and my original one is black/white.Is there many other colors available????

Mine is red/white. I didn't know they did different colours!

I've had the Canadian CDS's for Fine Time and Round & Round since they came out, but could never find World in Motion. I don't think many US stores imported it from Canada because there was a US CDS available. The Technique singles weren't released here on CDS so they weren't difficult to find.
