Let's get dirty, here.

We all had, when we were teens, or even younger, musical tastes that leave us embarrassed today.

Come out, all of ya !

Strangely enough, before being a NO fan and hate all things too pompuous, I was a Queen fan. And I liked Simple Minds too, New Gold Dream-era.

Yep. Still doesn't understand this today...

One of mine appears on the most hated topic as well. E.L.O. I was only about eleven at the time(that's my excuse) there you go.

I was a bit partial to Roxy Music before I discovered real music, but hey, I don't think i'm embarrassed by that at all as they were pretty good actually! :smoking:

Later on though, I did and still do like Duran Duran and Wham. I admit that those may be a little more open to ridicule, but i won't change my ways, I won't I tell ya! :p

No comment on the Wham admission....

But as for Duran Duran, the fucking rock mate. They still are one of my all time fave bands, and the keep producing bloody good material.... did you get to hear Pop Trash last year? blinding album...

Don't feel ashamed about Roxy Music. They are a cracking band, and Brian Ferry still rocks...

I always quite liked Level 42, which admitting usually means i get beaten with a big stick... so come then, take your best shot!!!

Smashing.

Do you like the 'Training Theme'? - it used to inspire me to work on my triceps and triceratops. By playing the record over and over I managed to become the strongest man in the world.

I gave up when Rocky V came out because the baddy was called Tommy Gun... which I thought was just silly. Also, they had a character who was exactly like Don King called something slightly different to Don King (name escapes me at the moment). It was a shame also that they put a few speeded up FX on the street fight scenes.

Rocky III was the better of the films with 'Move Sucka' Mr. T and his elaborate jewellry. I did here Sly Stoat was going to make a Rocky 6 with Quentin Tarantine-ups... perhaps they only object left for Rocks to fight is a shape which cannot be described.

I 'reckon he'd do him in the 8th round easy.

I dont consider mine to be too embarrasing: Ultra-sonic, QFX, Binman, Mondays, Local DJs providing enough steeky beats to go around everyone. Come to think of it, how the hell did I get into NewOrder? Hmmm....

Liv, I feel you are probably going to bear my children in the near future, which of course will be concieved as we frollick to the sound of every Duran Duran album ever released, I have them all, and at last I have found my soul mate. When will you be mine?

When I was a very young boy (...) Santa :xmas: bought me a turntable, but no record to play on it (the bastard). I chose one in my parents' collection and it turned out to be YMCA by the Village People :\ohwell:. Then, I fell in love with some fucking break dance song (I don't remember the title nor the band who sang it) :uhoh:; it must have been some kind of a reaction against my father's tastes (the Rolling Stones). During the next years I kept going on in the direction of a clash with my dad :violent:, as I started listening to electronic instrumental music (Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, a little Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk too) :skeptic:; I was about 12 at that time.

I really discovered pop music with A-ha's first two albums . Later, my tastes evolved in the right direction: first Duran Duran, then the Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division... :rolling:

Now, I like a huge amount of different styles: John Lee Hooker :hat:, dEUS, Hooverphonic, Jean-Louis Murat, Kat Onoma, Jay Jay Johanson, Garbage, Pulp, Rolling Stones (Dad was fucking right about them :p), U2, David Bowie, ...

Embarassing music?

Let's see... what do I have in my collection?

  • Samantha Fox's first 3 albums and some 12"
  • Rick Astley's first 2 albums
  • Bon Jovi's albums
  • Def Leppard
  • Tiffany's first 2 albums
  • Debbie Gibson's Out of the Blue

I have so much I shouldn't even enumerate them :D

Actually, it was more or less the musical tastes of my sister that influenced me, I was, until a few years ago, a very big Top-30 fan...

Shame shame shame... :o

Nicolas, I was just trying to remember Rick Astley's name, and I couldn't. And I had completely forgotten Samantha Fox.
