Straight from the horses (or Steve's at least) mouth :

CRIES AND WHISPERS

Steve :

Cries and Whispers is a great revelation because everyone thinks it's called Mesh. But it isn't. It was mislabelled in 1987 and nobody ever noticed.

On the new Retro web site.

So if Substance's Mesh is really Cries & Whispers, what's Cries& Whispers on the b-side of Everthing;'s Gone Green?

EGG has got two B-sides: Mesh and Cries & Whispers. The titles are not in the same order on the sleeve and on the record label. The one really called Cries & Whispers is the one faetured on Substance, wrongly titled Mesh. The one that's really called Mesh is the one featured on FEP313 1981-1982 with the correct title.

You must pardon Brendan for asking this question again. It was his first post on this forum and I guess he wasn't aware of the discussion we've had for several weeks about this issue... But indeed, it should be the last time we discuss this.

Wait a minute; I don´t get it. What about the FacBN CD-single release made in Austria (FBN8CD) released in 1990, wich features both songs? I dunno if they´re mislabeled on it. No disrespect to Mr. Morris, but yes, he could be lying or wrong about this case.

Of Benelux people got mixed up...

If the UK label did a mix up in 1987, why would the Benelux company think otherwise?

It's like that film with Bill Murray where everything keeps repeating itself. What was it called?

No, Mesh is right. Andie McDowell was in it too. Good movie.

 Are you serious? I just said Mesh to say something, but I had no clue what the title of this movie could be! No :nonono:, you must be kidding...

Groundhog Day.

And Stephen Morris is mistaken.

Yeah, (beside Steve) Benny's right. "Mesh" is on that EP of "Temptation", with "Mesh", & "Cries and Whispers". The real "Mesh" starts off with Hooky's bass, while "Cries" has a synthesizer fading in. "Mesh" is slower than "Cries", too...

I remember thinking about these tracks being mislabeled when I first bought and listened to these on vinyl...

Of all people, Steve should know! Spotnick...why not stick this on the FAQ section now we know the answer to this age old question?
