After having had a while to digest it, my preferences have gotten more settled.
Top half: TMW, Crystal, SLY, Close Range, and the fifth pick is the hardest, and I surprise even myself by picking Rearview.
Bottom half: the rest (not that I dislike any of these except Slow Death)
I'd like to enter an insightful alternative, however, Patty's selection is top draw. Would challenge only for 1st best, 2nd best and 3rd place best... in my opinion - Turn My Feet, Running Wild, Crystals.
Come on Facsy, play the game. Fucking the Rats is 2nd worse, beaten only by the filthy magnitude of Slow Death. Yes, Slow Death is worse than Rocking the Shacks.
Actually, Huntsy, I was trying to avoid rankings within the five top and five bottom, although I was less than clear about that. Picking between SLY and CR for me is impossible, for example.
Rocking the Shacks and Slow Death are the worst New Order songs to date.
Turn My Feet, to me, coupled with Running Wild, are possibly the 2 BEST EVER New Order moments in living history... and this is after lots of digestives.
P... I couldn't resist making a small top 5. Don't you just hate it when that happens? - You post a new topic and you can guarantee that within a few posts some criminal has decided to alter your original meaning... usually with a top 5 or 10 approach.

Well, Huntsy, I'm glad we agree on Turn My Back and Slowest Death Ever Experienced By Man or Woman or Small Animal.

1 Turn My Feet - perfect blend of touching melody, up-lifting yet sad chorus, understated use of drums, guitars and synths. Truth be told, I don't even mind the harmonies with Bobby Growler.
2 Running Wild - Just an amazing cacophony of emotions from the Barnster. If I ever wanted to write a song to play to people to show that I am a touching, purposeful yet intriguing individual... well this is it.
3 Crystal - It rocks, it spits, it kicks-backside. Its new, its old... its just a great, great record.
4 Someone Like Geoff Klumpy - For the odd combination of great synths, bitches from nowhere, creepy melodies, bizarre 'Having the Crisps of My Life...' moment in time, punchy drum machines and on and on. This song rivals the album version of R&R... its a modern NO classic... a really original piece.
5 Primitive Nostrils/The one about Keeping the Blokes Chin Up - A dual no. 5 entry. Both straightforward NO punk-rock infulenced indie classics from the Brotherhood stable. And just when we thought they'd abandoned their roots.
The others follow close, however, Turds within Shacks and that daft one that I never play are howlers.
Well, Huntsy, I know how much you like Running Welder, so I don't quarrel with that choice. And what you say about Turn My Back, Bristle, and Someone Like Yuri are all perfect. HOWEVER, Huntsy, one of the points of a top five is to force you to choose FIVE, not six, tracks. So I had to stretch and strain and scratch my head and finally pick Turn That Key over all the others except Slow Loss of Breath, which of course is in its own very special category of not only the worst NO song ever recorded but the worst NO song that ever even appeared in any of the band's worst nightmares.
Slow Marmalade P, is a modern day abhorration of human values. It sounds like a rejected Electronic ditty, which is the ultimate insult. How it crept onto Getting Things Ready beggers belief. At least Rocking the Shacks has SOME appeal, of which I'm sure you and the other misguided Orderline massive only know. The opening splat sounds of the song sound crapper... it sounds like they've taped Steve Morris taking a dump after a bad Indian. Cheapo keyboard presets ahoy!
The decision to cheat on the 5th choice wasn't easy Patty, but it had to be done.
Vicious Streak is a little disappointing after it was big 'upped on this here site so much. I do like it, a lot, however, feel it does drift mid-song and never returns to its former glory. The sounds, also, are a little weak... like a cup of tea that has not had time to settle adequately. Oft called a cup of cat piss in the Huntsman household.

Yes, Huntsy, I agree about Vicious Streak, it doesn't quite work, although it has some appeal. As I've said before, I think the only reason Slow Torture is on Get Rid of Me is because of the drug reference on Behind Rose Thorns.

On which part Facsy? The drugs part? I just think Warner records didn't want to put anything remotely controversial on the album that might impair hoped for chances of large commercial success, and that "don't take away my drugs" line doomed Behind Dozing Snores.

Well, the likes of D-12 can do "Purple Pills". Besides, Neworder have done songs about Shafting and Wanking, so drugs is not important
They have also pulled drug references in the past E For England being a prime example.And a line from True Faith went from 'now they're taking drugs with me' to now they're afraid of what they see
We want more than an apology facsimile... when I read that there post I was not that sure if whats you meant was that which's what was intended and that.
Facsy, I think Warner felt the potential audience for GR was quite different from that for D-12. I'm not expressing my own personal views about drugs, I'm just trying to reconstruct why something as bad as Slow Dissection is on GR.
