Which JD song should NO bring back to the setlist?

Decades. Possibly the only song that fits New Order better than it fitted Joy Division. Lush strings........I still get a shiver up my spine when I listen to the Festival Hall 84 or the Paradiso 84 gig.

there are far too many overlooked NEWORDER songs for them to be bothering with JD tracks...they need to play the NO material before they call it a day and leave the JD alone....

personally i'd take:

Sooner Than You Think Leave Me Alone Lonesome Tonight Thieves Vanishing Point Dream Attack Let's Go Procession EGG AOC Here To Stay Sunrise

and many more over ANY Joy Division song...

i know they were JD but there are too many good NewOrder songs to bother with JD songs...maybe one or two per set but 5 is pushing it a little too far.

must go with new dawn fades...perhaps in place of atmosphere? it's not their best live moment.

I'm with you about them concentrating more on New Order material but it is exciting when they dust off a Joy Division classic or two in a set.

I know they tend to rehearse fewer songs for their tours lately but the Joy Division songs tend to be less complex. Perhaps they could work on 5 or so JD songs per tour, and then decide at each concert which 2 to throw in.

If I had to hear NO do some more JD songs, I'd prefer something from the early days, which is why I voted for Sound Of Music.

Gotta go with "Dead Souls" but I'd love to hear "The Eternal" too. That would be really eerie.

Or what about them just playing an overall Joy Division set for their fans? It would be great, for me, no matter what they picked.

Lets hear neworder play some of the fantastic neworder songs we havent heard for donkeys years they delve into the vaults..... :)

"These Days". It would fit perfectly in a NO setlist...

i went with "Day of the Lords" but would've voted for "twenty four hours" as well

I voted for Atrocity exhibition, but further thinking has me wondering if thats right. I guess pretty much any of the joy division stuff would rule, with a few exceptions. There are some JD songs that ONLY Mr Curtis could sing, of course thats just my opinion.

I've said it before, but I really like NO's version of LWTUA that they performed on "Later with Jools Holland"...

But as for the selection of "other" that I made in the poll, I would have to go with either "The Drawback" or "They Walked In Line"...it might sound interesting.

I think A Means to an End wouldn't be at all out of place at a NO show. It's definitely one of the danciest JD songs, so it would fit right in at a New Order gig.

seconded on the "none of the above vote", they are NOT JD now and would only do inferior versions, punctuated by barneys annoying whoops and whistles, I'm not sure they could even do their own early stuff justice anymore so forget JD

None. Don't get me wrong I like JD. But I feel they've done their JD thing. There are heaps on NO songs I'd like to hear. After all when I go see NO I want to see NO. At first I thought it was great they played JD songs, but these days I tend to skip them on my live recordings.

Not to be too much of a geek, but I've got a pretty good idea of what the ultimate NO setlist would be (for me at least). Decades as the opening song on the encore is the only JD track included. In my opinion, it's the only JD track that I've heard NO do that is better than the JD version. Of course, they haven't done them all, and the only live JD take is that piss poor effort from Still, but still it has all the makings of a great NO track. Bouncy melancholia.

Face Up? Christ, I'd shit me pants with joy. Remember drunkenly shouting for it at the Olympia 2001 show, and this lad next to me just grins and goes "yeah, right".

Wasn't their excuse for not doing TPK summat to do with it taking six months to program?? Well, they've had more than six bloody months now (bring back 'The Village' as well!)

i voted for dead souls but only if hooky does the lead vox, and i agree that any 2 of e.g.g, hurt, thieves or age of consent would be welcome back in the gig list in preference to bernie's wayward vox on atmosphere!!

In terms of JD, Digital would be nice. In terms of NO, bring back TPK, Ultraviolence, and This time of night.

I chose Disorder, though very closely behind come Insight, New Dawn Fades, Day Of The Lords, Shadowplay and Twenty Four Hours.
