Well, Crystal beat Here To Stay, can it handle Regret?

Not so sure...!

had to go with 'regret'. it's practically perfect in every way.

Regret for me also. Sounds as good today as it did in '93.

Maybe it's too early to compare "Regret" (a classic New Order song) to "Crystal" (a wonderful new tune).

I love both songs, voted for "Crystal" just to go against the flow. :D

I don't know how a song can get better than Regret. Ceremony may be greater, but it's not better, if you know what I mean.

Regret, emotive without being long winded

REGRET. Everytime I hear the opening guitar riff it's like the first time. A song forever young, forever fresh. Timeless piece of musical silverwork.

But what a magnificent song Crystal is!

Crystal fer moi! And that says a lot, cuz Regret is a classic New Order track:nod: Maybe it's because I haven't had years and years of listening to it yet.

Back in the summer, I would have said Regret. Since then though, the juggernaut that is Crystal has awoken me from my slumbers and grabbed me round the throat on its way into my personal New Order Top Ten.

well i agree that it's a bit too early to judge about "Crystal", but my vote goes to "Regret", the opening guitar-riff is outstanding.

Pity it's not them playing it really :D

hell, if regret opened with the guitar riff and then immediately ended, it would still be fantastic...that's how good that opening part is!

Crystal, although it's a v.close call. Crystal is easily my favourite track of the past two years. Fantastic comeback (as was Regret in 93!).

Regret. All time favourite NO track. Crystal sounds like a B-side in comparison.

I' not a big fan of the Republic era, but Regret is New Order at their best.

They are both great ways to start an album. Tough choice... still thinking... It would hard to choose Regret because it builds you up for a big dissappointment in the rest of the album. I choose Crystal. Next we put the winner of this poll up against Paradise. I say Paradise wins.

Another very tough choice but it's gotta be Regret for me. Just thinking of them kicking of a gig by crashing into Regret is enough to make me shiver.
A thing of beauty. :)

crystal for me. dare i utter these words but i'm not a big fan of regret, it's usually the song in which i take a piss at their gigs. crystal is great track.

My thoughts exactly. It's a song that has so much personal meaning as well as being, objectively, such a great song, the kind that if you heard it only once you might be thinking about it for the rest of your life.

A little unfair as Crystal hasnt really had time to 'mature'

As much as I love Crystal (to the core!) Regret just simply transcends anything they done in the last 10 years imho.

I voted for Crystal and im wrapped to see its hit the front.

I do love both songs, but the first time I heard Crystal I was hooked whereas Regret took a little longer, and live Crystal is brilliant.

Cheers ALEX

Crystal is indeed a great live chewn, but when it kicks off a gig with that 30 seconds+ backing vocal, it simply hasn't got the impact of Regret (as anyone at front at the Ally Pally will shurely testify!!) ;)
