OK so I was listening to the original Confusion on Retro earlier today when I noticed something that had struck me as odd years ago...

Somewhere just after the middle of the song is a backing "guitar solo" that doesn't sound (to me at least) like anything else that NO does. Most of the Guitar in NO songs is fairly structured (Not talking about mistakes or when Barney rubs his guitar across the speakers to create feedback or when Hooky gets bored and changes/adds a note or two) and not very "guitar soloish" ...

It probably is them (maybe with some treatment by Baker) but does anyone else think that this sounds different than normal? Did Baker maybe bring someone in to add a guitar solo?

your thoughts please...

i, too, found this guitar solo to be very "confusing" when i first heard it 19 years ago...

there must be a story behind it... not that i'm complaining, let them have some fun

Peter Hook is to blame

i think you would have to put the solo down either to baker, or bernard being on a ton of drugs i dont think you can blame hooky on that one although he does play guitar in the song's 1st half live? hmmm maybee you have a point!!!!!

I am probably in the minority in this respect, but I have never really cared much for confusion. It's OK, and would rate in the middle somewhere, but I never really fell for the track.
