So, once again the UK version is better...

I'm looking at the features for 24hrpp on DVD here in North America, and they are pretty weak compared to the UK. For one, you guys get two discs, and a ton of features we don't. WHY? Does MGM think that if they don't include that extra disc they'll appeal to all the New Order/Joy Division/Factory/Happy Mondays/ACR fans on the FRINGE who wouldn't shell out that extra money (probably somewhere underneath ten dollars!!!)! Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!

fook, i was gonna post something similar!:eek3:

so our version is the lesser one? fooking hell. i'm sick of this. how come we get the substandard NO/JD outputs? the stuff without cool extras? why? cuz people still remember NO/JD in britian, and they'd figure us north americans aren't worth the time!?!??! postponements...what's with that?

grrrr....:finger: to the record industry.

You know why.. so why bother asking?

In 6 months they will release a collector edition, containing all the bonuses.

The first release is usually oriented for renting, not buying...!

And who, just who, rents these DVDS? People who just want to try a film based on New Order out? It's completely ridiculous. There aren't any people who are toting the line that are saying "Wow, I like Joy Division and New Order, Factory, too, but just could never see picking up a DVD about all of them!"

IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a multi-zone DVD :D

I'm still puzzled to see why they bother to create a different edition..

Ah well...!!

It works both ways guys - I can't get a region 2 version of the special edition of one of my favourite films (DOGMA) which is chock full of Kevin Smith extras. :(

Maybe next time I'll hunt round for a multi region player eh? ;)

Supply & demand - New Order have a huge fanbase in Blighty, they don't across the pond, hence the 24HrPP release demographics. Besides, 50% of the film is based around the Mondays, who America never ever surely 'got'?!

Now, perhaps if Factory had signed any one from Erasure / The Cure / Ultravox, and the latter half of the film had been built around them, then American distributors might've considered this a more saleable release?! :eek3:

As I have said before over on the dark side (BTW anyone know what's happened to their message board?) it makes a change for us Brits to get our own back for all the R1 DVDs we have to buy to get the decent out takes and special features and the added expense we have of getting multi-region players. :moon:

Youse all should have bought more of their products a few years ago, and then they would have had a viable market......

50%? seemed more like 80% when i was watching it!! not that theres nought wrong with the Mondays its just i kept waiting for NewOrder to make an appearance, and waiting... and waiting.. i think we may have got a clip of Reading 316 if my memory serves me correctly but thats about it!
