How come nobody ever seems to mention Hooky's first side project and records "Man's Audio Development"? This was circa 1988 - Pre Revenge.
Another one that has faded into oblivion I suppose.

News to me
New to me too.. what's the story?
A new discovery *insert here Chris Nash's avatar* Hummmm..
Honestly, what's that? never heard of it.. I've never seen it mentionned anywhere...
Peter Hook did many collaborations, but a side project prior to Revenge?!?
Woohoo another side project full of completely mediocre possibilities! Boy, I can't wait... Well, maybe I'll just spend another $55 on another copy of Retro. 2 copies of Retro would be better than one copy of yet another NO side project band.

I know...I feel the tension in this room here. I've seen one copy of this several years back and it is owned by my friend Andrew in California...but I'm sure that I can swing getting some pics and mp3z for all...
But if anybody feels the need to search for it, and I believe it was only released on vinyl, it is a darkish blue sleeve with a distorted close up pic of Hookey on the front (Think of the beginning to the BLT video - same concept here) with black lettering above it reading: "MAD - Man's Audio Development"
As for the tracks, they are essentially very early versions of some of the cuts found on the 7 Reasons EP and Revenge...such as the "Bleach Boy" mp3 I sent in here roughly 3 years ago under the site's old incarnation...This was essentially Revenge minus Potsy.

I bought the 12" single by Mankind's Audio Development - it contained 2 tracks "Sunfeast" & "craving". I bought it in 1985 on the strength of a label on it saying members of New Order were involved in the project.
Very regretably I sold it with most of my other vinyl in the late 80s before buying CDs. I recall the tracks being recorded at Blackwing Studios in 1984 and it was produced by John Fryer. There was no actual credits to Hooky or New Order on the sleeve or vinyl though. I heard that some band members from play dead were involved in the project.
I was always intrigued by this record and really wish I'd hung onto it.

There's not enough remastering in the world to fix that.
