The more I listen, the better it sounds, even something as recent as Crystal seems to sound much better. I commented before that Such a Good Thing sounds much better than it did when it was released, richer, fuller, warmer. The only criticism I have is that Leave Me Alone should have been left alone. It was perfect the way it was; I think they've made the drums too prominent.

Well, I think the Brotherhood tracks are very much improved! I wish they would do the whole thing!

Good point, i must listen to the album and Retro versions in succession as my CD of Brotherhood has that trademark muddy murky sound

Let us know what you think after you've done that.

So, does anybody else have an opinion on this?

Yes, it sounds wucking funderful. The remastered Thieves on "International" sounds great too.

I bet Love Vigilantes would have sounded good as well...

Oh god. The whole Love vigilantes thing is going to start again. I think we should all just be happy the opened with it at Move and leave it at that!

The sound must be good if I actually started to like SLow Jam for five minutes !

If only my stereo wasn't a piece of crap... I don't think its worthy to play retro...

well...the "Brotherhood"-songs sound quite fresh and good to me, they must've been remastered :evil4:

Yup, at first listen I told my wife, "hey, they really cleaned this stuff up, opened it up, brought it out of the darkness." . To which she replied," you bought what and it cost how much two days after Christmas!". So, after reading this thread, I deciced to do an A/B comparison on the Brotherhood tracks to be sure. Although I don't have a Sound Pressure Level tool, the retro tracks VS. Bhood seem to be a db or two louder. But at closer listen, they, IMHO, have definitely been "remastered" as the sounds seem to arise from a blackness that previoustly was a greyness. I haven't had a chance to A/B the other tracks, yet, but the whole thing sounds pristine to me.

Oh man, if I had the cash Retro would be mine! MINE!

My little "nest-egg" is a little short, and I need to work on getting more saved away for when the Swiss invade...erm, for a rainy day. So Retro will have to wait a while (I'd say early Feb at the latest)

I'm tempted to swear off all technology now, but then I'd miss bitching about the horrible promotion of New Order's releases....:D

Oh My Clean!!!! Just did the A/B on True Faith and the Retro blows away the substance. It is a couble of db's louder on Retro, and, yes I know that to the human ear louder sounds "better" than softer, but this baby has definintely been "cleaned up". Now I drive my wife nuts with cds and lps all over floor and "hey, switch it now honey, ok, again, again, again..."

Well, I'm pleased to hear that my ears weren't lying to me!

It certainly sounds way better to me!

It's considerably better. Got "Fan" on now and the sound is markedly better than the original CDs.

I lived in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant for a year. It was like going back in time.
