Monaco and Dean Martin/NOOL Profiles/IALP on "Heart And Soul"

How many people noticed that there was a sample on one of the tracks on the "Monaco" album taken from a VERY old album of Italian love songs by none other than the Rat Pack crooner, Dean Martin? It was one of my dad's albums that I grew up with, so it was a bit of a shock when I heard it on a Monaco track! As I'm at work at the moment, I can't remember the title of the Monaco track - it features a female "heavenly chorus", (think it's the second track on the album) but the Dean Martin track is "Return to Me". How's THAT for a bit of sampling trivia? - sure beats the 2001 - A Space Oddysey samples on "Murder"!

P.S. My profile shows me as a member of "Candidate" although I don't remember setting this up - anyone care to enlighten me as to how you get added to these categories?

P.P.S. Has the FULL version of JD performing "In A Lonely Place" on "Heart And Soul" ever surfaced anywhere?

Actually, I did know about Dean Martin. I borrowed a CD off my Grandad of all people. The reason for doing this is nearly as tragic. As a Brighton fan, we sing a song to Bobby Zamora along the lines of "When the ball hits the net like a fucking rocket.....That's Zamora!" which is of course a bastardisation of the the DM classic That's Amore.

Told you it was tragic.

One of the most exciting things about Heart and Soul I thought was the inclusion of IALP. Probably a morbid curiosity about the last verse. I was disappointed about not getting the full versions but this was more than compensated for by the amazing vocal. It reminds me of monastic chanting. Very cool.

That version of IALP is possibly the most evil thing I have ever heard in my life. Still sends a shiver up my spine now. I would love to hear the full 12 minute version, just out of curiosity.

Yeah, I read somewhere that it was cut just before the "hangman looks round as he waits" line to keep it tasteful. Not sure whether or not to believe it. They probably did an arbitary fade out to make sure it would fit on the disc, and some journo made the story up.
