I really like this version of Blue Monday played obviously in a TV show. But there were no really precise credits in the end of the VHS. Does anyone know more about this show ? Date, place, TV channel ?

yep totp indeed. in fact the version of blue monday they played on this show (which was at the time the uk premier pop slot on tv and some may argue still is),a version of blue monday that was released in poland on 7" and possibly spain as well but ive never seen the spanish version.

The polish 7inch is just a fade out of the original version. There is no such officially released version. As for some spain release, i highly doubt it.

Hmm, my friend who only vaguely knew of New Order saw this edition of TOTP and commented 'they're not really a live band are they?'. Barny didn't exactly look like he was having the time of his life, did he?

When I saw them in Glasgow in April '83 (around the same time as the 'Switch' TV appearance with Blue Monday and AOC), they played Blue Monday twice - the TOTP version during the set and full version in the encore. I think they did this a few times round about then.

My BM 12" is a spanish release! Other than the fact that the sleeve is made of a very thin paper (seems they -unlike Factory Records, Manchester, England- didn't lose money with every copy sold!) it has no discernable difference from the original release. The label is Nuevos Medios, SA, Madrid, Spain.

its transferred from the japanese 'new order story' laserdisc, using optical cables->digital sound card

so the sound quality is excellent..

i've been listening to this version since last week...the vocals are kind of high in the mix...but it's still cool..

i like the way they totally look bored out of their skulls in the video..

i also think its great when bernard starts laughing/cracking up at around the 3min mark..

i could a video capture->mpg, but the file would be way to big to host...

I used to think that live version of Blue Monday was taped in December 1982. Guess I was wrong, but why. I have another question to extend the subject: who knows where the live version of Ceremony on NewOrderStory was taken from? Where is it possible to get the video of that entire concert, or at least that particular video?

You mean the one that features shots of a guy in the audience with the weirdest dancing "technique" ever?

this is probably one of the biggest singles of all-time,

and one of my personal favorites of all-time also...what else can be said about it..

it's revolutionary, its a sign of the future, it defined a generation and an era..

and cemented 'new order' in the musical history books for the rest of time..

hyperbole on my part? perhaps..

but if it weren't for this single, i might not have ever heard of 'new order'..

here in the US, we just didn't get this kind of music, and NEVER heard it on the radio..

seeing the mysterious 12" floppy disc packaging drew me to it, i just had to hear it...

and since then life has never been the same..

this is an interesting version of 'blue monday'..

it's quite short, since they had to play it on tv..

i'm sure a lot of it was sequenced, because at times when watching the video, they don't seem to be playing..

in fact, they seem rather bored.. (but its funny)..

the vocals are kind of high in the mix, but are very clear..

and the recording is excellent also...you can hear all the guitar work..it has all the elements of the full version, but is nicely editted..

and at one point bernard starts laughing..

oh yeah, and notice he changes the last line to 'while i walked down to the street', instead of 'the beach'...

a great glimpse back in time, for a classic song..

this version is transferred digitally from laserdisc, so the quality is excellent..
