Ok, get your hypothetical hats on!

So by hook or by crook you have arranged for New Order to play at either your Wedding Reception or Birthday party. Its on the same day as a farewell gig they are performing the same night in your home town.

They have kindly agreed to perform a few songs for you at your function before they go on stage later that evening.

Unfortunatly Hooky/Barney/Steve/Phil go awol on your big day   mad panic ensues and you believe that fate has played a cruel twist once again.. but at the 11th hour they come bursting into the hall apologising for their late arrival, (in fact you can also comment on WHY they were late if you wish!!) but anyway... they have basically ran so late that there is no time for your treasured handfull of songs to be played

But the band being the smashing chaps that they are :rolling: say that they have time for just one solitary song before they have to hotfoot it off to the gig they are playing that evening... your despair turns to muted delight!! :happytongue:

Muted because... the band are standing round you and expect an answer and expect it quickly!!!!!!!

So time is ticking... what is it to be ?

Remember one song and one song only for this once in a lifetime opportunity :)

yes, LWTUA, as well. the next best thing to seeing Ian sing it (what i wouldn't give for a time machine...sigh.).

I'd ask the wankers why they were late, before laying into them with a plank of wood. Then politely tell them to play Temptation or I steal Barney's autocue.

video 586, only to make them late as polssible for their farewell gig.

I'd get them to play True Faith (with Gillian onstage instead of Phil, of course) because it's my favourite song of theirs. Then I'd ply them with loads of booze so they'd be too drunk to do the farewell gig and all the while I'd be begging them not to split up! They'd soon come round to the idea of staying together!

They were late due to a session at the "all you can eat" pie & mash joint.

I ask them to play Love less. Barney gets the words wrong, hooky knocks the best man out by accident, phil saws his guitar in half with the plectrum, gillian plays the wrong song and steve does it all perfectly and then goes for a glass of tepid evian.

A great evening is had by all.

They could be as late as they wanted and one song would be enough for me anyway. Temptation. Or just Hooky playing the bassline from AOC. Or just Barney and his melodica. If they do start playing weddings birthdays and bar mitzvahs they really will have to change their name to The Sunshine Valley Dance Band.

Um, I would like Temptation or 1963

Blue Monday, because that's how I discovered them back in 1988 - ok, this was Blue Monday '88 but I want the original for my party !

Well, first I'd ask for TPK, but since that wouldn't be forthcoming, I'd ask for something rarely heard these days, like Angel Dust.

true faith please

TPK for me too. Playing LWTUA at a wedding reception seems hardly appropriate to me CTB :bear:

What do you know Candy! This is a local party for local people anyway ;)

They were late because they got so pissed at my stag night the evening before. Then they play 'Elegia' - 17 minute version, before they announce that we're only getting an encore because someone's blocked the doors'. Then they play LWTUA.

I'd punish the bastards by making them play a song they really don't like. But I dunno which one's they don't like, so I'll settle for "Everyone Everywhere" so I can injure Barney's hand. :D

I'd have to go with "Temptation" like half the people here ...mostly because "Love Will Tear ..." is not the song I want to hear when I am starting my life with someone...

Is there even really any life-affirming or positive New Order song ...?
