Republic by Plato...what a rip-off!

I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw we were reading Plato's "Republic" in my philosophy class. I thought "Oh boy, at last I'll get the dirt on the making of that album! Now I can finally know what 'Regret' was about, and how the whole 'Baywatch' video came together!"

Instead, it's just a stupid book about some boring Greek philosophers creating a perfect society! That's almost like a big :finger: to all the fans like myself who assumed maybe this Plato guy had forseen New Order's making that album however many eons into the future. I have half a mind to go to my professor and decry the injustice of having to read such crap! It doesn't even talk about 'Ruined In A day"! Geez, what a waste of paper....

Well done! Earlier in the year I had to read "Republic" in one night....so I listened to New Order's Republic instead...and still got a B in the class ;)

"Mein Kampf" was an even bigger let down - believe me...

What about "Vanishing point"? "At last the truth about those Ibiza shenannigans revealed!" I thought... and it's just a stupid 70's american road movie!

I like the both Republic's...but I prefer the Plato's one. I'm starting to think it's the weakest NO album. But still a NO album, of course. :)

Yeahh, I know what you mean. I saw Plato in 1987 at the Viking's Lard in Copenhage and what a cracking gig it was. "The Cavern" was the highlight of the night I think.

However when I went and bought the "Republic" CD it was a bit of a let down. I enjoyed some of the remixes, though, like the "Politeia Extended Dance Mix". IMO the whole album was a bit underproduced. Socrates's voice is fine as ever but Glaucon's bass is weak and Adeimantus's early emulators sound very dated these days.

There was a buzz some days ago that they were reforming and would support Yes's next tour.

You've got that wrong, Buddy! The truth is that they're Archimedes' new support band! Yes it's true, old Archie's back now and bigger than ever since Levis used his 80's smash-hit "Eureka!" (you must remember it, it's the all-time biggest selling DAT!) for their latest commercial!

Glaucon? Socrates? What the f...I must have the Americanized version! (the main character's names are Fred, George, and Eugene)
