I think this is the most rare and profound versions to be found. True its primative but something about it screams its the best. Maybe I'm wrong but its one of my favorites... anyone else feel this way?

i think it's just too much of a hodge-podge early draft of the song, it shows, and it was really improved upon later. they certainly have balls for trying out nascent versions of their songs on live audiences, though!

I like it...it's a lovely version..so raw...but I still think Barney was just making the vocals up as he went along!!!

i like it also...

I love it too. It is outstanding that they play unfinished songs live. Especially at the end of that set. A glimpse into the future.

Love it. It's presently my favourite version of Temptation, although that might have something to do with over-familiarity with the finished studio versions. Sure, it feels a bit work-in-progress, but if anything that makes it more exciting.

Only thing missing is the green/blue/grey eyes bit...

I like it. I find it exciting when a band gives unknown songs a try on live audiences. But Everything's Got Green is my favourite on that video. It was performed after the single was released but why does it sound so unlikely? (the arrangements).

'Everything's Gone Green' will always piss on Temptation - period. The Taras version is excellent. Don't care if I never hear Temptation again.

A true wonderful moment. And what about Barney's bloody eyes??? He looks like a fuckin' psycho.

I love the bit where the mic gives Barney an electric shock, did anybody else notice it ?

Is that what that was? The part where he pushes the mic out of the way and sort of glares at it?

The best is during Ceremony where he glares and shakes his head at Gillian.

It's a stunning, fragile version.

Best bit: "And it's gonna end.... ...It's ending 'round the bend"

At least that what I think he says.

Yes, that's my favorite part of the whole video!(when he gets shcoked) It kinda looks like Hooky and Steve are sharing a laugh about it in the next shot....

Sorry about that mess! (in the future I will refrain from including quotes, that seems to fuck it up real nice like)

The shock is really excellent... I still have doubts if it is a real shock or effects of bad acid...

And his look to Gillian when she is completly out of time in Ceremony is also a highpoint. He must have thought "oh, gosh... what the hell are we gonna do with this moron in the band?"... He even shake his head with a pity eye...

But with the years, she proved to be one essencial part of NO... WE LOVE GILLIAN!!! :gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian::gillian:

If had no idea what to sing or play...I'd probably react that way in front of a crowd as well. I seriously don't think he was shocked....no way.

If you want "work-in-progress", you really have to hear the debuts of Sooner Than You Think, Face Up and Sunrise then !

I think both the live takes of Everythings Gone Green (Hookys bass outstanding) and Temptation (Bernards guitar also outstanding) are very, very good, and depending what sort of a mood I'm in preferable to the studio versions (Both of which are in my all time top 10 singles by anybody, thaths how high I rate them).

Incidentally this would have been one of the last times that "Temptation" would have been performed with these lyrics, as by January, 1982 New Order performed the song on BBC 2, with a version much closer to the single edit, if I remember correctly.

They'd sorted the arrangement out by December 85 - one of the easier ones !

I really enjoy the different guitar parts that come in and out near the end of the song. It's amazing how much of this song is actually there if this was one of the first attempts at it.

what I was trying to say was that he is clearly shocked when he touches the mic, it is a common problem when you are playing guitar and the guitar amp is grounded to a different circuit than the PA
