I love Everything's Gone Green. When I first started collecting New Order bootlegs about 18 years ago, I would always be interested to hear how EGG/Temptation sounded.
The live version on Retro is awesome. Tolworth I think. I have had this on tape somewhere. There is another great gig where EGG & Temptation run together - think it might have been Bradford '84 or something (I'm too lazy to look it up or dig out my tapes).
What do you think is the best live verison of EGG?
Hamburg 81 is pretty good, unformed, but 15+ minutes long !
Hull 84, where it is segued in with 586 and Temptation is another good one, as is Bristol 84, Dublin 86. It pretty much started to sound the same towards the end though. It would be interesting to hear a New Order 2003 live version though, I must say. I know that Andy Robinson is keen for them to resurrect it (hope it's not front of the queue though !)
My favourite New Order song is Everything's Gone Green (live versions). I like the 1981 performances. Later they seemed too much elabotated.
