Post-punk...the most important outgrowth of rock music?

Wouldn't know it from the magazines of music these days, but post-punk (that is, combining the DIY ethic of punk with the artiness and songwriting of Bowie and Reed) was pretty damn important, and I think it's a shame that a lot of the important figures of post-punk (like New Order) are ignored or disregarded today. Just wondered how y'all felt about this topic.

Most people on this site tend to bend more to the New Romantic side of things (I don`t)

I like some Spandau in a cheesy school disco type way. I see very little relation betwen NO and New romantic to be honest. Blue Mondays not exactly frilly shirts and lipstick is it? :kiss:

Namely punk... But it seems rap rules everywhere, unfortunately.

So, Spandau Ballet pulls out into the lead, with Duran Duran keeping a close second, and the rest of the New Romantics making pace on the rest of the track......
