Just seen this in the Sunday People newspaper..... 'ORDER IN FOR BECKS TO SING' Pop legends New order are making renewed attempt to persuade David Beckham to sing their World Cup anthem World In Motion. Manc singer(!?) Peter Hook wanted Becks to sing on a remix of the Italia90 hit which famously included John Barnes attemting to rap. Hooks original bid failed,but he is contacting the England s advisors about a one off appearance at a New Order concert at Lancashire Cricket Club during the summer.

Not arsed about the Beckham bit....but the mention of New order playing at Old Trafford cricket ground again sounds o.k. to me...Heres hoping! Iknow R.E.M. have been booked For the Move concert ...but New Order..??...fingers crossed..as for Beckham ..lets hope he's busy!

Why do they want him? Who is he? Can he sing? Why not get the guy who did the original WIM?

Beckham is maybe the most famous person in England. Captain of Englands Football team [soccer to you ;)] & married to one of the Spice Girls. Can barely step out of his front door without papparazzi snaping his every move. They are prime Hello magazine fodder.

The player who originally rapped on WiM, John Barnes, is retired now & pretty much faded from public view apart from the odd TV show here & there.

It's like if you are talking of Michael Schumacher.

And I'll push my luck by saying Michael Jordan, Barry Bounds and Wayne Gretzky? :D

Probably I'm pusing too far for 2 of them.

At one time i would a cool BECKS :beer: whilst watching NEW ORDER.But if they do play this cricket ground again i WILL be there.May even have a :beer: or two aswell:D

This reminds me of; Q. What do David Beckham and Des O'Connor have in common? A. They are both fucking awful singers.
