I haven't finished reading it, but it does contain interesting stuff about a lot of Factory artists, but JD/NO aren't given that much time. :shrug: It's still interesting though.

Bought it ages ago & read it by the pool on holiday... a fine time.

A fine read back then & should still be worthwhile now, even if many of the details have since been discussed elsewhere (24HPP)

It's a good read. He does get a few things wrong, and tends to use ten words when one will do, but worth reading none the less.

Just finished it, actually. It's worth reading if the price won't put you out. Mr. middles probably should have written a book about Buzzcocks instead, however, because it seems like the book is really about them, even though they have nothing really to do with the books subject. My guess is that he's a huge buzzcocks fan, but a book about our lads and their infamous record company was a more viable commercial option. In any event, it's worth reading if only for barneys rambles.

It's a good book, very informative indeed. There are some errors (even the date of demise of Mr. Curtis is wrong) but I think it's worth the reading.

Ditto although I lost faith with the book after getting the single most important fact wrong and took a lot of it with a pinch of salt.

I'm still not decided though...but I DID order Touching from a Distance from Amazon UK and 24 Hour Party People from American Amazon. I'll have a nice JD/NO fix fer sure!!!!

Hey, buy it used and sell it after you're finished if you're concerned about spending the dough. It's pretty damn entertaining and a great history and nice chronological overview of the various Manchester scenes. Of COURSE the Buzzcocks come up, as do Slaughter and the Dogs, Drones, The Fall, The Smiths, Echo, Teardrop, The Electric Circus and other non-Factory bands and places. Fuck, it's MANCHESTER, right? About the size of a postage stamp and not a fucking vacuum.. it'd be retarded to not recognize the cross pollonization. In fact, it's CRUCIAL to understanding where Factory came from. But rest assured it's HEAVY on JD/NO, maybe 50%.

Read it, yo!
