New Order setlists ¿why?

On the Get Ready era concerts many NO albums (Movement, Technique, Low-Life) have lost all their presence in the setlists.

Wich NO member do you think has inspired this policy? If there is one, of course.

Absolutely. Most of them sounded shite live, apart from Vanishing Point.

Dream Attack IMHO was one of the higlights of Reading 93...Barney's guitar at the end was sublime. Bring this back please!!!!!! One of the best live tracks ive heard from Technique.

Maybe Barney is becoming a "lazy singer"...

He can sing TPK, I'm sure. But he prefers to sing the typical easy song, as Blue Monday, for example.

TPK is very difficult for Barney singing really now. I´d like to hear Round & Round again. Favourite track for dancing.

Dream Attack usually sounded absolute shite live - it was just too complicated an arrangement on record for them to get it right live. Round and Round is a karaoke song, even you could sing that !

I don't agree..it's not different from BLT as they're playing it now.

Round & Round is a great pop song. BLT sounds like it too.

They are playing BLT for the simple reason that they have it sequenced. Don't forget they changed operating systems since 1993, and only the tracks they have already re-programmed will be available. It's a safe bet that they haven't done any of the Technique tracks apart from Fine Time. They did try Guilty Partner out in 1998 but it fell very flat, so unless they've been doing some programming (which is highly unlikely seeing as they are supposedly working on new material), there is absolutely no chance of hearing any other synth/sequencer-based old stuff on any 2003 dates.

I've read this theory before and it really makes no sense to me. As you said they've played Fine Time since 1993 which is almost entirely sequencer based so that kind of blows the whole argument (why would they choose only 1 track to reprogram, especially the most complex one).

As I've said before a MIDI file is a MIDI file is a MIDI file, what exactly is meant by a change in "operating systems"? Also, this talk of it taking months to "reprogram" something like TPK is bollocks. Even if the original MIDI files were lost any studio engineer could source all the original sounds and reprogram the arrangement in two days. Easy.

Don't ask me what the real reason is but it's got zilch to do with technical difficulties.

If we want the old songs, you'll have to ask Sid to give them back their Emulator !!

This song is also a good one to be played live because Steve can rest playing (or pretending to play) keyboards.

Maybe that's why Steve's drumming isn't as intense as it used to be. In the olden days, he would be playing keys as much as he was behind a kit. At 5 11, all he could rest on was BLT and Blue Monday. I say bring back the DMX and give Steve some more r&r time.

I completely agree...Steve is a great drummer. He doesn't need rest.
