Last night Gareth Gates covered Blue Monday - the acapella version. Sounds like he got a bit stuck with the drum machine bit though at the start, and there were no lyrics or any melody :D

he was the 17-year-old, gap-toothed, stuttering runner-up of pop idol last year (the show american idol is based on) and is almost as omnipresent as princess diana used to be--he's even mentioned in the 'retro' booklet!

i voted for will.

Talking of Blue Monday covers, about a year ago did anybody see that BBC tv impressionist Alistair McGowan do the Kilroy/Blue Monday sketch. Each week he'd been doing a sketch as Robert Kilroy Silk who usually starts his programme by asking some messed up person "How does it feel?" but on the final sketch he launched into a cover of Blue Monday, prancing about his audience. After not believing what I was seeing I laughed my head off but surely 99% of his mainstream audience were sitting at home saying "I don't get this, it's not funny". Totally bizarre moment.

Yep, remember that!!

Was quite surreal to hear for a NewOrder fan, but im sure the vast majority of the UK public at least recognise Blue Monday in some form or another.
