But I have seen it though! 3 times! D/Led it over the summer (piss poor quality), saw it at an art theatre in late Sept., and rented the DVD last time I was home, the night before I came back to school, so no time to check out the commentary.
Everytime I watch it I discover something new. :)
That's what I like about it. But I have a question...I read in the forum mos ago that NO appear somewhere, but where?
It was especially nice for this Jam fan to see them in the part about the So It Goes show. I have that on my Complete Jam DVD.

my ex (mentioned in the significant others forum) told me that hooky was supposed to be in the shaun and paul ryder scene where they poison the pigeons, playing an irate driver getting pelted with dead pigeons; unfortunately he got held up in traffic or something and missed the shoot. as for the band, apparently they're in the closing of the hacienda scene, somewhere in the crowd.
film of the year (after donnie darko that is) i like the missing scene of gillian joining & the mondays blue monday bit. haven't seen NO in hac bit yet either
Haven't delved into the DVD properly - do they include any scenes of the Mondays and the Order from the Apollo, when they dragged in rent-a-crowd for the audience?
no unfortunately. i thought they put on almost a whole pretend gig. was all the JD live stuff supposed to be at Phoenix nights club?

Why? For me it's seeing the history, even if some of it is fabricated. It's also a cool movie.

I agree with anita...i don't mind if ian (in the movie)is a saint or not. The movie doesn't treat the band very well, but better than Tony Wilson or Shaun Ryder, i think...
Saint? I thought he was portrayed as pretentious and immature, such as in the car scene with "She's Lost Control". The rest of the band hardly has lines enough to be portrayed any particular way, except for Hooky and the cigarettes. They're mistreated by their lack of airtime in the movie.
I've watched it several times now and now that the shock has worn off, Ian's grand entrance cursing at Tony Wilson makes me laugh uproariously not for the bad language but for the over-the-top dorkiness that I imagine to be entirely appropriate.
Anybody making music in 21-22 years old seems like a joke.
But I still laugh at Stephen stuck on the roof...
It was worth watching to know a bit about the Factory history.. of course there is not much New Order in it, I guess the Happy Mondays are more interesting to know about..
Or maybe New Order didn't want to be seen as the Mondays are portraid in 24HPP ;)
Only just got the LIMITED EDITION with the 8 hours extra footage and 2 CDs.Nice package but yet to watch it!Still nice for the collection.Now to get INTERNATIONAL RESCUE!

hooky regales this tale in the from the factory floor bit, says he couldnt do it for insurance reasons he had to get up right early & all
i did hear that a lot of the footage filmed got lost so chances are that gig jarvo mentions was included in the lost footage & will never see the light of day

That's a bit harsh. I never got that perception. You've planted a terrible seed now.
Don't you think it was the intention to present Ian Curtis with the popular perception that he was perceived to be a god by the public? (which he still is) - rather than a more, erm, neutral image.
The film makers did say they'd included bits that weren't exactly true to keep the fan of fans with all the facts.

Well, H, I was expressing the impression that the movie made on me. I was less bothered with the way they treated IC than with the way they treated the rest of the band, which I thought was quite offensively dismissive, somewhat less so to BS than to PH and SM.
I understand your meaning. I'm due to purchase the film soon (I enjoyed it immensely) on the more popular DVD format, with some intrigue at the additional scenes - a great shame Stephen Morrisey never made an appearance, still.
I've not heard of BS, PH, GB or indeed SM raise the point that the depiction of IC in the movie 24PP was over zealous, reducing their parts to incidental. I seemed to recall that BS was highlighted more than I expected, highlighting his integral influence on FR with TW at the helm. A great shame BS was not shown more as his more popular guise as lead singer of NO. Why leave out BM also? - I cheeky move by the film makers.
Were you aware that SC, who played TW in the film 24PP, is quite a starlet here in the UK. Equivalent, sort of, in the USA, of Seinfeld, although SC's shows are a bit more alternative than SignField.
Still, we all can't get what we want.

I had thought that an incomplete NO were shown working on BM, with results that were very unimpressive, particularly on the part of the movie's BS. That scene was one of my many reasons for disliking the movie.
On the other hand, SC was quite entertaining as TW, which was in fact another reason I disliked the movie. Is the real TW anywhere near that appealing?
I seem to recall seeing that SC had been cast in some big budget Hollywood project. Am I imagining that?
I hope SC is on more of an upward arc than Mr. Sinefold, who seems to be enjoying self-imposed semi-retirement enjoying his billions.

Like Rowan Atkinson, it would not surprise me to learn Steve Cookman was headed for Hollywood fame and predictable fortune, watering down any talent for irony they ever owned.
So,then, were you disappointed that the G&R comeback seems to have fizzled?
I think it will be amusing to see what a big budget will do to SC.
My bird is a big rock fan, with a tendancy for metal and an interest for grunge. (Marilyn Manson, although a parody of himself, has been known to appear in our living room quite often with his one good eye and casual slacks).
So, the G&R comedy roadshow was a lookout on our agenda. For me, it was to see how large Axel Foley had managed to become after his 10 year hiatus in a bakery. Very, very disappointed that they never made it to the limelight again with Stinger the smoking guitarist. Does he still own that crooked top hat and tails?
To make-up for it, in Newcastle (the UK), the new rock/metal comeback (an 80's horror show) is in full flow featuring WhiteSnacks (Is this Love, that I'm Eating), and several other monsters of rock (he! he!). I can't wait.
Evidently Brian Coverdale married that lass off Animal House ... which keeps his cool safe for about another 5 years until the girl has turned 40.
I thought that Axel Chrysanthemum had fired everybody but himself, perhaps in order to keep the bakery running full steam.
Marilyn M has been known to show up on my TV screen momentarily, until I can find and click the remote.
