Instead of all these unknown trance or goth groups who would you pick to cover their own favourite new order songs? there are so many bands who cite NO as huge influences it would be kind of interesting to hear their takes... i was thinking people like Primal scream, chemical brothers, charlatans, pavement, ladytron, fischerspooner etc all these bands that are probably better known than new order these days...
who should do a NO covers album?

Primal Scream...it will be really funny.
NO could do a cover of "Swastika Eyes", or "Higher than the sun".

Are they f..k ........ I've never heard of Fischerspooner or Ladytron !

Are they f..k ........ I've never heard of Fischerspooner or Ladytron ! they're part of the "Electro-Clash" movement that's all the rage these days. they're basically just bands that wish they were Kraftwerk. they're good - don't get me wrong - but they're not particularly innovative to me. i enjoy listening to them, but their sound is tired.
The Cure.
Oh, hang on, they already did one, called "Pornography" ![]()
I think Mark E Smith and whatever bunch of chancers he calls The Fall today should have a stab at a few (talking of which, does anyone else remember when Sonic Youth did a Peel Session entirely of Fall songs - I've got it on cassette somewhere if anyone wants more info, etc).
Pet Shop Boys and Kraftwerk.
PSB because they just go together and Kraftwerk to show these young upstarts how it's REALLY done. ;)

How many songs did they do in that session? I bought a 7" inch bootleg called All Fall Down(nice yellow vinyl) with Psycho Mafia, Rowche Rumble, and My New House. I read somewhere else (can't quite recallwhere right now) that they also did Victoria.
How about Philip Glass and the Kronos peeps?
N'Sync?
Britney Spears?
Pat Boone?
Brent Spiner, that guy who was Data in Star Trek
Duran Duran?
Autechre?
The Fall?
this is a silly question......
Covers can be cute, then some can be torture. LEAVE NEW ORDER SONGS PURELY AS NEW ORDER SONGS!
Exception: Joy Division covers by New Order are fine by me :)
If I could organise a tribute, this would be the tracklisting:

- Type O Negative - Crystal
- Life Of Agony - Brutal

Electronic should do Neworder songs
Neworder should do Othertwo songs
Othertwo should feed the chickens and wash the tank ![]()
Johnny Cash has been getting a bit trendy of late, hasn't he? A couple of years ago I saw him so Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" and I nearly fell off my chair when I saw him do Nine Inch Nails's "Hurt" which, amazingly, I thought was brilliant. Would it be sacrilege to suggest he have a stab at doing "Atmosphere"? I'm actually surprised that no one famous has covered that and turned it into a bit of a torch song. On the subject of covers albums, they're nearly all shite and you only play them once for the 2 bands you've heard of. The only one I've got that gets repeated playing is the Neil Young covers album "The Bridge". Oh and the NME's "Sgt Pepper Knew My Father" was pretty good too. God, they're years old now.

Johnny Cash is in heavy rotation on WOXY with Hurt. I figure that he can do pretty much whatever he wants - he is a founding father of rocknroll, ya know. I love the original and the new version is just as cool.

pfd, you suggested Autechre?!!!!! THAT would be interesting.
There should be an Aphex Twin remix of 586 by the way. Linkin Park should do True Faith!
you took my time you took my monneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey

I nominate KC and the Sunshine Band to cover Thieves Like Us, just so you lot have another reason to hate it!!!! ![]()
It's always the ones you never think would even remotely work that are the best, so I would vote for Ministry (circa 91/92) covering Fine Time.

Yup, Victoria was also covered (man, I had to go ratting about in some strange cardboard boxes to find that out !). Quite bizarre - Sonic Youth covering The Fall covering The Kinks :)
The session was 19th October 1988, and luckily I have it in full, hissy FM noise too ![]()
E-mail me if you want the missing track - I'm sure I can arrange an .mp3 for you.
well, duh. there's only one person who comes even close to possessing the necessary vitality to do new order justice. william shatner.
what, you think i'm kidding?
Well, I should do a NO cover album, me and my bongos.
A 72-minute album covering the introduction of The Perfect Kiss in a single track would be a good start. ;)

Ive always pictured Nine Inch Nails doing The Perfect Kiss.
The Chris De Burgh Atmosphere, well hmmm.
And the Cure to do All The way and new order to do just like heaven :D.
Cheers ALEX
I think New Order should do some covers of that great old band Joy Division. They did this great song called Love Can Tear You Apart, then they split up after the drummer left. Great band. They had a record called Pleasures.

Wow! Great idea. His rendition of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" is without a doubt the best cover ever, by any artist in the universe.

i'm definitely hearing this one. with a big horn section backing him.
and as for my william shatner idea, anita, i think he's capable of carrying an entire album, but if there's one song i can hear him 'singing' in his own inimitable way, it's 1963.
it's too bad richard harris isn't around anymore. i'm sure he could have rocked state of the nation.
ooh, aerosmith doing rock the shack. should have done it in the first place, anyway.
Alright, the ultimate BAD cover album (I'd buy it anyways lol):
- Slow Jam - NSYNC
- The Perfect Kiss - Britney Spears
- True Faith - Creed
- Crystal - Avril Lavigne
- Special - Default
- Your Silent Face - Missy Elliot
- Procession - KC & Jojo
- Round & Round - Christina Aguilera
- World ( The Price Of Love) - Backstreet Boys
- Every Little Counts - Mudvayne
- Doubts Even Here - Cradle Of Filth
- Let's Go (Nothing For Me) - Ace Of Base
- Brutal - Dido
- World In Motion - Usher
- Fine Time - Enya
This would be utterly terrible. Would any of these even work??
I've come up with these. Peter Murphy - Decades and/or atmosphere.
Legendary pink dots - In a lonely place and/or we all stand.
Shriekback - fine time and/or everything's gone green.
Seal - True faith and/or leave me alone
Hawkwind - elegia and/or Shellshock.
Marillion - The village and/or 1963.
Sonic youth - procession and/or these days.
I'll doubtless think of more...Please, somebody help me!
I do dig some of the NO covers already out there...
But I'll be generic and say the Cure.
Sure they've already done LWUTA and SLC live
I could hear them doing Age of Consent,BLT and 1963.
