Republic!!! Having Regret, RIAD and Everyone Everywhere on it?

The fourth one, completely agree. Specially True Faith.

Oh you SHOULD listen to it, this contains a few gems...

It's a real grower...

I have to echo Nic here - M4P is a very worthy album with some mighty fine tracks (and just the odd duffer;))

Ok, I'll listen it for a second time then. But just because you guys told me to.

The thing is that when I heard it I got really shocked with the endless NO samplings (specially from Brotherhood) on every song. Then I thought "C'mon, this Hooky guy comes with a side-project and everything he does is coping NO songs? Fuck off!!".

That's why I never heard it again. Oh, and I also hate his Monaco modern-fashion look with those silver shirts. He looks like an extra on "Plan 9 From Outer Space". :alien:

  1. New Order female BACKING VOCALS
  2. Peter Saville sleeves (cos 90% of them are crap)
  3. Hooky's grunting on their songs
  4. "Radio Edits" - they're best songs are LONG LONG LONG.
  5. Any truncated versions of TEMPTATION / HURT - cos those two songs alone should last THREE WEEKS.

I'd ban excessively tall people anywhere. People should be short. There's a reason NO are all pretty short.

Ban the woman at move fest who stood next to me and shouted along to every song even though she didn't know any of the words. Also, her voice sounded like a cat hitting a tennis racket at 60 MPH.

Example vocal from her:

"Yeah wooo woo woo nothing i regret... yeah ... la la la la la la la laaaa woo woo screech screech wooo kids have run yeah wooo screech screech"

You may meet up with some lofty opposition to this one !

The recorded version is rather muted compared to the live fury, that much is true. What is "kiss me kiss me kiss me" though ? Not a Cure album surely ?

I had to painfully endure an entire set of theirs at Reading 93 so i could secure myself a decent place down the front for the HEADLINING act on the sunday :D

seconded, also add their fans, who while jumping up and down and headbutting thin air, ruined a perfectly new pair of my trainers, how I got through that set of theirs is a fookin mystery.

Regret would be in my personal New Order top 10, but Republic as an overall 'product' was such an utter let down IMhO. One brilliant song, and a couple of reasonable ones still don't make an album. It would've been better as an EP (though I think we've already done the thread where we decided upon 4 tracks for an EP).

Especially for the Technique follow-up, isn't it? Which was a flawless album, except maybe Fine Time ;)

And yes.. the female backing vocals should SERIOUSLY be the first thing to ban from ANYTHING New Order releated...

They do work on some songs though, Crystal is one.. and we have yet to find if Gillian is the one doing the chorus on Someone Like You...
