Could a solution be provided to solve the riddle of the '98 Temptation once and for all.

Originally played (supposedly live) for the opening of the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, this thundersome version later appeared at the beginning of the interview on 3:16, to the backdrop of the 3:16 gig!

Reading the thread posted over the last couple of days it would seem that the original '98 wasn't even live! ... to add further to this confusion, the version on Retro seems somewhat tweaked to even the 3:16 version. A subtle 'guitar' appears over the 'green eyes' singing.

For me, the '98 version is easily the most ferocious, and can knock plants out of their vases.

But what is the definitive history of this, most beautiful of songs brought forward of late because of the Commonwealth Cakes.

Temptation 98 doesn't exist. Our collective minds produced it.

ergo - it exists.

We think, therefore we are.

It only exists to us and no-one else. I toast, therefore i am.

Dolphins can no longer be perceived as the clever blighters we thought they were as they are being sent with cameras on their fins looking for mines in the tigress :nono:

I think at this point I say, "My mind accepts no boundaries, obeys no rules. It is an open savannah, a mountain range…a darting dolphin that breaks through the meniscus of accepted norms to flex its muscular body in the open air."

No, no, no ,no ,no. The most ferocious, by far is the Taras version. Even the keyboards only bits are enough to give me the willies.

Great version for sure. Love the way at the start, Gillian turns on the sequencer but it's still set for Truth. It's cool how those early New Order songs came about....taking one sequencer pattern and experimenting with it.
