I just updated the Upcoming Events and Tours & Concerts database accordingly with the upcoming concerts, but I need to have geographic precisions.

In WHAT PART of Australia are located:

  • The Gold Coast
  • Byron Bay (this one is for the Substance Tour)

Western Australia? South Australia? Victoria? Queensland? New South Wales?

Thanks,

Seb.

The Gold Coast is in QLD. Right on the border of QLD and NSW. Byron Bay is in the northern part of NSW. Only a few hours south of the Gold Coast.

BTW Seb, congrats on the Tours section- I flicked through it for the first time yesterday.. An exhaustive effort there- you're creating a pretty useful reference centre..

Thanks for the infos Ahmad -- I will update the database right away. My geography of Australia is still a bit poor. By the way, are these "Provinces" as in Canada? Or just "administrative regions", a bit like we have in Quebec? Maybe I shouldn't ask!!!!

Thanks Depthy!

It took WEEKS to put up and it's far from being complete yet. And thanks to all the people who gathered tapes and concert informations, and also to Water Rat who was the first to come up with a list of concerts.

What we have in mind for this section is truly to make it the ultimate New Order and Joy Division concert reference... pictures for every show, image of the ticket for each show, pictures of all the promo material for sale on each show, setlists for each shows, and in an ideal world that wouldn't infringe copyrights so much nor bust our server, sound and video for each show.

Also, we want the users to be able to add their own reviews of the shows. That option was supposed to be installed MONTHS ago, but Nicolas is fed up with programming, and I'm fed up with entering datas. I still have all those Joy Division setlists to enter... not exactly exciting work, believe me!

But once it's done, all these informations will be linked to the DISCOGRAPHY information and to the LYRICS database, so that, from either of thee pages, you'll be able to click on the name of the song and each song will have it's on page featuring the lyrics, a 30 sec. sound clip, video if available, and the list of EVERY release it's available on and of EVERY concert it's been played at.

Very ambitious work.

Also, the way the Tours & Concerts section has been programmed, you'll be able one day to use the search engine to get a list, for instance, of all shows that New Order played in Manchester or in Brisbane or in Sydney, or more widely, all shows they played in Australia, or just all the shows they played at a specific venue, like the Apollo.

I still think that the Tours & Concerts section is lacking a lot of PICTURES, and unfortunately we can't do a thing about it if no one scans and sends them to us. This website will always be as good as its users wants it to be!

Oh, I almost forgot --

The nice pictures "collage" in the Tours & Concerts Section has been done by Brad Edwards, a talented AUSSIE!

OK- you asked for it..

In a nutshell, they're states: self governed, like the USA. Our political system is a curious hybrid of the UK and USA models, with significant (Republican) changes likely to occur in the near future. And the day will no doubt come when we too no longer carry the Union Jack on our flag.

Anyway.

And another thing Seb, that masterplan of having the links for all edits, mixes, live versions, video, etc of every NO song is an excellent goal.. I once had the same vision of such a feature. If nothing else, it'll certainly create a master reference centre for all us trainspotting completists out here.. I think you know what I mean.

Just for the record, I've been told New Order were only doing Sydney and Melbourne.. and Sebastien added the other days of the Big Day Out Festival.

Can anyone confirm what's the truth?

Thanks.

Well, being a diplomee in Political Science, these questions ARE of interest to me! :)

I was a bit surprised that the last referendum Australia held on Monarchy wasn't won by the Anti-Monarchists, since the rumor was telling it would be the other way around.

On our part, even though we're an independant country since 1931 (officially, but our constitution was brought from London to Ottawa only in 1982), the official Chief of State of Canada is not the Prime Minister, but the Queen of the United Kingdom, Elisabeth II. Thus, we still have her face on each penny, cent and dollar you can find in Canada. Thank God we are an independant country, otherwise I would think we are still a CONQUERED one... *insert irony here*.
