Give it up for the Man Called Muffy

Muffboxer, what can I say?!!! - over 1 billion thank you's for your extremely generous and package of utter beauty and pleasure. 3, that's 3!!!... that's three!!!! CD's crammed full of rare NO morsels and......... a video!!!!... a god damn video!!!!.... holy mother of mercy there is a god! - after a short while I ended up fishing around in the 'Special Delivery' envelope for any T-shirts, 12"'s, signed photographs etc.

And to think I only asked for 'Run this RiverRat down the River Dry'.

Well, I'd like to send you something in return... is there any NO rare piece that you've been after for years but never come across... The Huntsman may have it stashed in his quite enormous (and ever growing;) ) collection of JD and NO historical goodies.

Once again, thanks, that was an extremely kind and generous act of kindness and generosity on top of a giant slab of generous worms. Made all the better in the knowledge that your are a true, pure, old school JD and Order fan.

Well I really just wanted to openly display a bit of gratitude to Muffboxer who initially had a bad press when he first joined the gang after uploading a naughty picture of someones, erm, muff.

Anyway - after a quick flick through I got this (in a £6 special delivery):

1st CD: New Order 'Now That We've Grown Up Together' Radio interview interspersed with songs. If you like, the entire New Order story featuring interviews and comments by the leading protagonists.

2nd CD: Joy Division 'Here Are The Young Men' as above - but JD (an excellent bit of memorabilia - really, really depressing)

3rd CD: Run This River Dry Rare Ceremony version Confusion original 12" Temptation original 12" Let's Go (with lyrics) - THE BEST VERSION - rare The Perfect Kiss 12" Brutal 5-8-6 rare version Evil Dust NO John Peel Tribute 'Transmission!!!!!!!!' etc. etc.

... now, I think you know what I'm saying when I quote the word quality from time to time.

Incidentally... all of the recordings are fucking ace (and I'm a picky bastard to say the very fucking least).

Cor blimey missus, such a public showing of gratitude, now I AM embarrassed. :o Huntsy, it's a pleasure to bring the goodies out and pass them on to someone who will appreciate them. The Saturday Live performance encapsulates perfectly the very essence of what New Order are all about, trying very hard to be very good at what they do. The way Barney gets pissed off at every minor mistake is exactly what it was like in those days, I remember him booting Hooky up the caker around that time for playing a few bum ones. Enjoy the goodies, but what of tonight at Chateau Huntsy? Roly Poly or New Order? Mmmmm........... decicions, decisions!

Ah, could this be Let`s Go! (Original vocal version), which I rave on about. It starts as "Find the key that burns your heart" or something... I Love it! (especially the intro)

Muff - a couple of years ago we moved home and I had to put my entire JD and NO collection (very well wrapped up) in the loft. Computers evolved and I was itching to take the rare goodies down and splat them onto a cd with a bit of tweaking. I think you've saved me about 5 months hard labour. The rare items you have included just about total the songs I was going to have to migrate to digital world so that I could enjoy them in my bomber... I've finally given up on tapes... they're shite.

Couple of questions: The Perfect Kiss... is this slightly different to normal? Ceremony... what the fuck version is this - fucking bass drum (a real foot stomper the way this song should be) is out of this world and that's the best intro I've ever heard (i.e. Hook'y bass). I do have the green sleeve 12", the white and blue sleeve 12" and the glorious metallic bronze 12" - but this mix sounds different? - Barney's voice sounds more pronounced for one.

I'm foaming at the fucking mouth about the video... do you know what - I lifted the goodies out of the env. and I thought, MUffy's sent me a porn (after I pissed myself at the General Zod title)... well there's only one video that could have been better than porn (just) - New Order live!!!!

To answer your question... I'll be hitting Huntsman's monster sound generator with the tunes tonight, in the meanwhile, plastering the lady with alcohol - who know's - it could be a happy ending. Love and Live Order, or, Brutal Love.

The Perfect Kiss is the 12' vinyl version never released on any other format, (except the Low-Life cassette), 45 seconds longer than the watered down Substance version. Ceremony is the first version they recorded, it was later re-recorded, I cant remember why. This version is reasonably rare and sounds much rawer than the more polished re-recording and is my personal favourite New Order song. I remember even now how excited I was when it first came out, it was just brilliant! Still is! Anyway, must dash, you can let me know next week what you think of the video. You may even have seen it at the time. It was a hot summers day back in 84, oh yes, those were the days!!

I think also it helps a lot when the turntable, tonearm and cartridge you are recording from are top notch, even cd still can't compete with the sound you get from vinyl! A good turntable will kick the ass of any cd player, and no mistake!
