Read a few months ago that New Order had definitely started work in the recording studio on the followup to "Get Ready". Does anyone know who's producing, and when the album's likely to come out? This year maybe? 2005? All info gratefully received.
Does anyone know how the new New Order album's coming along?

I dont' have serious news about it, but there were rumours abut October 2003 as release date.
Theorically NO are now working on the new album.
well, IF barney really went sailing to the caribbean we may have to wait much more. i´ve just remembered the ibiza sessions of technique. that were two years, right?

They did record Vietnam in the last month, didn't they? So they are indeed in studio.
I doubt Vietnam was recorded before the war...!

It would be the most sparse book you could get a hold of me thinks. ![]()

I just hope they don't put Vietnam out as a single or include it on the new album. At least we know where Barney got his inspiration for Love Vigilantes from !

Wasn't this just written & recorded in one summer? Summer of 88?!
New album is due next year, I believe.
Godspeeds, guys, godspeed. I don't want to have to wait until 2004 (or *gasp* 2005) for the next album!

Nah mate, the worlds shortest book would be 'Peter Hooks Sensitive Guide to Being a New Age Man'
Either that or 'Lose Those Excess Pounds Today' by B.Sumner
I phoned Steve yesterday and he said no album this year but a single till november.I´m only joking
Will New Order repeat Get Ready guitar style again?
Not quite sure cause they always change their style each album.
a change of speed...a change of style...a change of scene...with no regrets...
I expect something like "Here to Stay" and "Player in the league".
Get ready style, with little changes or additions

Sounds like it was made before humans were capable of thought.
I sure hope they improves the sound from the Get Ready. GR is a decent album, almost too decent if you know what I mean.. It's "get's old" very fast and the sound could be more "rougher". Personally I think that Here to Stay is the best Get Ready era song close in front of the 60 MPH.
I know exactly what you mean, although I disagree on 60 mph, wasn't impressed w/the song, and 60 mph is what grandma's are driving at on the freeway, doesn't exactly metaphorically convey recklessness or care free ways.
The album itself is solid, but like you said, it got old fairly quick, only Republic spent less time in my CD changer after initial purchase.
There's really no telling what NO is gonna do. "Here to Stay" and "Player in the league" one might think are a preview but the group is pretty good at unpredictability. It might sound nothing like anything they've ever done before, or it might be a hybrid of the recent single+b-side.
Of course...it doesnt matter how it sounds, it's New Order.
