Does anyone out there have a copy of the studio gig NO did around 1983/4/5 for a BBC all day music event.

i originally recorded it - on a Philips 2000 vid - no laffing please - it was my mothers vid player. but i have since parted with the vid and tape.

the only thing i can really remember about the gig was Barney pestering Steve to go faster on In A Lonely Place.

i would love a copy if anyone can help.

cheers

PS - apologies if this is a multiple post - i did search the forums but did not find anything.

I think the TV marathon was actually 'Rock Around the Clock', no?

'Saturday Night Live' was just the (admittedly, very nearly simultaneous) broadcast done on Radio 1. Audio only.

Hope I've got those two the right way round!

The TV broadcast cut out just before the end of Temptation. I had custody of this VCR recording from my mate Biz and I didn't have access to a second VCR to record it. Several years after I returned it to him I asked about borrowing it again with a view to recording it and unfortunately his parents had recorded over the tape, ironically with a programme called State of the Nation.

You can download the MP3 files of "Saturday Live" (not "Saturday Night Live") from New-Order.net at http://www.new-order.net/no/audio. There are loads of interesting stuff there (interviews, live recordings, etc). It's worth the visit.

By the way it's the third time I post this link here in this forum.

Don't worry about your Philips 2000 - I think I recorded it on a Betamax video recorder !! I even had Joy Division's "Here are the young men" on Betamax - might be worth something now (along with my 8 track tapes!)

I think the funniest bit is where he keeps saying "Faster" to Steve during In A Lonely Place :)

The bit where Barney came in too soon with the lyrics on Blue Monday was also quite funny, he didn't know where to look as the camera was on his face.

Great performance though and well worth a look if you can get a copy. (i have one but no means of copying it yet)

Wasn't Barney allegedly speeding his nuts off, hence the "Faster!" comments? And the entire band were in a right mood after being caught in traffic on the way to said 'gig'.

Those shorts are indeed enough to make a grown man wince though.

Fred Perry tennis shorts, deck shoes, sleeveless pullover with no shirt underneath. Very trendy at the time... At least Gillian wasn't wearing a string vest and ra-ra skirt.
