Wonder if New Order will ever fall prey to the package tours that will surely pop up in the passing decades from now. I know in the States we've got 60s and 70s bands with one or two hits touring around stadiums and such, tis only a matter of time before enough interest in the Eighties calls for a similar deal. I hope New Order don't do such a thing, it would mean Spandau Ballet having to give up the headling spot, and Kajagoogoo and Winger would have to be bumped off altogether.......

that it is a truly disturbing thought. can u imagine what barneys beer guts going to look like in 20 years?that`s how disturbing.
What, beer guts aren't attractive to women? Damn, I'm screwed.
I really posted that just as a way to get in a swipe at Spandau Ballet et al., I'm sure some of those one-hit wonders will band together for a horrifying tour to let people know just how far a royalty check for "True" goes, what with taxes and all. I just think it's funny to see SB on Where are They Now (subtitle: Who Cares?)
Too bad they missed a great opportunity in Culture Club last year, but maybe they could do an effort and pair with Human League who are coming back with an album that seem atrociously boring (heard only one song and a few comments, but what I heard seemed to be stuck in 1985 -- Don't you want me baby - lalala)...
Or MAYBE they could convince the Thompson Twins to reform? Or OMD ?
Of course, they could also drop the name New Order, re-form Joy Division, and tour with Bauhaus.

.....let's not forget the Mullets now, children......do you hear???

About Spandau Ballet, have you noticed that many bands have been trying to capitalize on big hits they had in the past by releasing new re-worked, remixed versions?
I'm thinking of MODERN TALKING at the moment, but there are countless other examples.
Can you imagine "Gold 2001" ?
hahaha
Redo "True" with a cameo by Doctor Dre, Eminem, and Lil Kim, that'll get the kids in the marketplace!
Actually I figured out how Spandau Ballet probably keeps from going under. I was watching Unsolved Mysteries and a commercial came on for romantic songs or some other BS, and "True" was among the titles included. All they do is liscense it for any old TV compilation, and they're rolling in the dough from royalty checks! New Order should do that....no, strike that.
actually its a frightening thought but certain members of spandau, well ok only one, are doing pretty well in the uk. the pretty boy(im assured in those lean years we know as the 80s he was considered pretty) bassist is now a very famous soap star appearing in a program called "eastenders". for anyone whos seen eastenders recently i reckon that over the next 20yrs hooky`s going to blossom into a fat harry slater lookalike..
Velocity Girl, I really wish you would get a Fan Club profile so that I could click on your name once and for all and satisfy my wide curiosity...
And BTW guys, I think the idea of having a chat room might be a good one tonight!
This is better than a chat room, by the time you've responded to something in a chat room the discussion may have moved on. Message boards rule, hands down.....
well, i thought about it, but the questions are a bit hard for me...im not very good at making the old definitive statements..yes basically im fickler than the uk pop market..
