Where: Birmingham Tower Ballroom Set Opener: Love Will Tear Us Apart

Wish I'd have been there....

Possibly the worst version ever, but the thought of it still sends tingles up my spine. Pity the rest of the gig was such an anticlimax !

I thought the Confusion encore was good?

where is/was the tower ballroom?

Its in Edgbaston on the banks of the Resevoir. Still there but now used for singles evenings and the like. Local radio stations have 'Party' nights there. No gigs as such. It was the location of the first 'Boon' series when there were two plastic palm trees in the middle of the dance floor. Saw the Order there in 1986 but attempts by the crowd to remove said obstructions failed to succeed. NO have played there 3 times so must have been a preferred venue in the mid-80s.

cant picture where the reservoir is - saw boon being filmed in the dirty duck - is it near there or the unspoilt by progress?

Nearer the Dirty Duck if my memory serves me. Resevoir is in Ladywood (Nice!), not far from the Hagley Road.

Playing Confusion is a waste of an encore ! Always the same at Birmingham, 84 and 85 as well. Bastards !

Yep but at least in 84 Hooky offered out the Powerhouse DJ and the 85 encore included Arthur Baker a good or bad thing?). I guess thats the price you pay for having LWTUA first!
