Here's the weirdness. Not only have I had a dream that I was chosen to be director of the Joy Division biopic based on Debbie Curtis' book, these things went on in my head. OK, bear with me:

The other night I had this dream where I was in this big one-stop type store and I was getting into an argument with a friend of mine in the middle of the music aisle (although for some reason his ethnicity had changed and he'd grown a beard). Then Ian Curtis, who was friends in the dream with the guy I was arguing with, walked around the corner wearing a pink t-shirt. He was carrying a shrink-wrapped package with a bunch of individual CD singles in it. So I jump-kicked my friend in the face to settle the argument but he just starting coming at me. So then a crowd had gathered and the store managers (one of whom was one of the librarians of my college library, and the other was the curator of the campus art gallery) yelled at us to get out. One of the managers grabbed the bundle of singles out of Ian's hands as she began pushing us out, and Ian yelled "Hey, I was going to buy those!" I tried to usher my fighting friend down the aisle to the exit, beyond which was a boardwalk running along a sandy beach. Then I woke up.

The next night, I dreamt I was sitting along the wall of a cramped bedroom with a small group of people that included the members of New Order (including Gillian, of course--none of these ersatz members). Barney was sitting next to me and that actress Amanda Peet was laying on the bed reading from something that looked like a pocket bible. Anyway, her voice got really quiet and Barney, who was reading along in his own copy, picked up the line from her as if to help her through it. Then she stopped reading altogether and Barney read another line or two before stopping and saying something like "Oh, you want me to take over or something?" And then everyone laughed. Suddenly, from a distance, I was watching New Order play a show at The Gorge amphitheatre (I show I missed out on that summer, dammit!) and they pleasantly surprised the audience by playing Aphex Twin's "Donkey Rhubarb" as their last song. Then I woke up.

So...should I stop listening to New Order so close to bedtime or what? I knew I shouldn't have had BLT on repeat for so long (thankfully i haven't had any 'bizarre love triangle' dreams about NO members, if you catch my meaning).

Anybody else had any strange New Order-related dreams?

Barney spoke to me in a dream recently.

The whole school was lined up on the grass next to Eccles Old Road to watch the funeral procession go by of a school friend who had been killed by lightening in Drinkwater Park in Rainsough Brow. (This actually did happen)

In the dream Barney was stood next to me and said "See, its volts from above, not bolts from above..lightening, electricity, volts, volts from above!!" I said yes but you can have a bolt of lightening as well. No, he said, its definitely VOLTS, its VOLTS you cunt! And tell those twats on neworderonline to change the words to volts or I'll get Baz onto you.

Volts or bolts?

I had a dream that Barney was eating a giant marshmellow. When I woke up, my pillow was gone!

Had a dream a couple months ago (which I wrote down) that I saw New Order in concert playing material from their new album. The stage was decorated like some interior design layout from a catalog, all white with blue & green glassware. Odd, but attractive and very New Orderish. Gillian sat at the back, Steve sat in front at a computer, with his back to the audience, and put in a CD to start playing the music. Cut-up drum samples and programmed rhythms. Then Barney put in another CD to add synth bass and strings. Then they break out the guitars. There was also some clowning around by Peter Hook (who had some weird new guitar), heckling from the audience, etc.

Just wish I could remember exactly what the music sounded like!
