How come New Order sound so much better lying on a bed in a dark room? Other suggestions - In the car? on the sofa? in the gym? etc. What do you think?

I'd say any (friendly) place where alcohol is served is a good place for NO, but JD requires some definite darkness. When I think JD, I think industrial landscape (big surprise) and staring out of frosty windowpanes.
There are times when I wish I could freeze time when your in a Bar, enjoying a beer, hanging with good friends, and your favorite New Order tune comes on. :)
Right now ? I'd say standing in a field downwind of Stephen Morris's farm hoping to hear them recording in the barn. Incidentally, there's no one on here who lives nearby has done that out of desperation is there ? I would, if it was on my way home but certainly not on a 300 mile detour.

No its just my sense of smell has never been quite right since we stayed at Liv's Mick and i was downwind of Majors smelly socks!!!!!
