Do any on the ball people know who they were? (I think they were also from Manchester) Do you agree that they tried really hard to be like Joy Division, particularly the front man (in mannerisms more than vocal style) ?

Gabrielle's Wish (spelling?).

Never seen 'em, but seem to remember they used to be a Goth band, no?!

How did you know if you've not seen them?

I believe you though: the name seems somehow familiar although it was jolly hard to find it out on the night who they were! (not least 'cos the singer was inaudible between and during each song). I guess you could call the style slightly "goth" yeah (never been totally sure on what constitutes that genre) - they had a dark moody style to there music but visually they looked like a "Madchester" band.

Their bass player, Darren, was with us in Stockholm for NO last night. Can't say I've ever seen them before but will look them up if they ever make it to London. Very funny bloke.

Whoops. Did 'next' instead of '2' at the bottom of the page and thought Matt had replied to this over the weekend whilst I've been away, rather than a month back.

Anyhow, the band was indeed Gabrielle's Wish and I'd thoroughly recommend them as their bass player is such a sound lad!
