I'm watching the Finsbury Park DVD for the first time.

It's up to BLT and Barney just said "FUCK THE RAIN!" Now he's dancing all over the place like a 13yr old schoolboy and you know what? I LOVE IT!!! This is one awesome concert dvd and I have NEVER seen Barney this energetic and bubbly before in my life! It's a very stark contrast to the deeply depressing look he had on his face during the Pumped Full of Drugs concert film. WOW! What's gotten into him and the Hookster? They are having a blast here! I'm glad to see they are still doing the live gigs and can't wait til they churn out another album!

I'm noticing a trend here where it seems musicians are getting happier as they get older. Robert Smith is another good example. It's a cool thing to see.

Anyway I can't buleeve there's no other threads discussing this NO 511: Finsbury Park dvd!! why isn't anyone here talking about it? Didn't it just cum out a couple weeks ago? You guys better get with the times and GO GRAB IT OFF THE SHELVES NOW!! Cuz we're like Crystal! :)

It's been out ages, but yes I agree with you, it's very refreshing to see the guys so happy. In fact, their Reading 98 appearance was equally joyful. It's clear that Barney and Hooky are really enjoying playing live at the moment, which only bodes well for the future :)

I finally found the package with 511 in it that I got in April and if I'm lucky I'll be able to climb over the furniture one day to get it!!!!!

that dvd is stunning. it's probably the only dvd i've got in my collection that i haven't became bored with. true faith rocks. i always laugh when hooky shouts something at the crowd during true faith, along the lines of "blah blah blah you fucking.. blah"

temptation is amazing of course, as it usually is when played live.

when i first saw it tho', transmission left me flabbagasted. barney's vocals don't match up to the aggression and power in ian's tho... :(

The Depeche Mode DVD is briliant (as opposed to U2's, the visual aspects of which are pure crap. Who the hell directed it?), but I don't think New Order gives a fuck about being briliant :D.

Except for the fact that it was a daylight concert, I find this DVD very good, especially for the presence of Dawn Zee (it's sooooo disappointing when the backing vocals are prerecorded), and I like it better than 316.

It got better as it got darker, especially the lights in Temptation and YSF. Wish they would've gone on longer w/ some older gems, but oh well.

Have to agree on all fronts ! (cue confused smilie from others). My biggest gripe with it is that what you see isn't what you heard at the gig. This is camera footage with the records playing, with Barney singing over them. The errors have by and large been edited out. Post-production......they'll be miming at gigs next !!
