Unreleased songs

Ca anyone shed some light on any unreleased songs by New Order. I know of HOMAGE, read somewhere that a V/A compilation had this song. A track called LOVE DANCE did the rounds, had melodica and Hooky's style of bass but the vocals sounded like Simon from Crispy Ambulance. There was a LETS GO demo before Salvation that had vocals and is better than the version from 94. Bet there's a whole bunch of stuff in the New Order safe that could/should have been on Retro.

Homage was wisely scrapped after about 4 gigs - it was shite ! Love Dance wasn't the Order, it was done by a band called The Bridge as a deliberate spoof. Not bad. Not sure Alan Hempsall would like you mixing him up with Simon Topping from ACR though !! The Let's Go demo with vocals dates from late 85. Sensibly they opted to keep it an instrumental (as indeed it was on all the live outings) until persuaded to stick those shite lyrics on it for the septic market in 1994. It'll always be an instrumental to me.

Apparently there isn't anything else, aside for rehearsal jams. The rest has all been worked into what we know and love.

Maybe the world will never know. Or just maybe (I know it's a stretch) someday Hooky will get a burr up his bum and release all that old carap that shoulda been on RETRO on a "Here are the old men" collection or something!

And let's not forget old ALEPH...which became "This Time of Night" But I'm sure there is a demo recording of it lying around in somebody's sock drawer...a la Video 586??

I could let you have a copy of the original Let's Go vocal.....The truth of the matter was that they recorded it as an instrumental for Low Life, then got paranoid that there were too many instrumentals on there. They added the first vocal and ruined the song. They went back to it as an instrumental having left it off the album.

Eh ? "Aleph" was the title that a bootlegger gave to the debut of Sooner Than You Think. Of course there are demos of it, David Sultan probably has them. This Time of Night was only ever called "Pumped Full of Drugs" until the album came out !

speaking of mr sultan - bet there unreleased tracks on that load of cassettes he picked up recently! there will be unreleased versions & original versions at the very least

I'd be very surprised if there were unreleased songs. Maybe some good rehearsal takes on Skullcrusher, Face Up and STYT (which were the only works in progress at the time of those tapes). I'm just hoping that the Munich 84 tape is amongst them, the only gig that hasn't surfaced from the 84 Northern Europe tour (there's still 1 1/2 Spanish ones from the July 84).

When exactly DID they debut TTON?? I was under the impression that Low-Life had already come out in 85 when they did PFD177 and called it "Pumped Full of Drugs" If not, then oh well. But they have been known to engage in such tomfoolery before...and since! "KW1" anybody? They still manage to get that name in from time to time...

They were always pissing about with song titles, in fact the next competition will be to guess the gig from the alternative titles !

Now I understand! Thanks for clearing that up. After recently moving house I found an old New Order rarities bootleg tape that I must have bought in about 1987 at a record fair. It's got "Love Kills" and "Love Dance" (Demoes) on it. There was me thinking I had something rare as I'd never seen them listed or talked about on here before. Having listened to them again, the spoof had me fooled, thought it was a Hooky vocal on a track that needed a heck of a lot more work.
