I got sentried for a Gibson SG a la Barney yesterday - one second to go and I was sitting pretty. Next refresh and I'd been consigned to the trashcan of oblivion.

How long before he tries to buy this site then... must be tempting as its home to the biggest neworder fanbase in the world!! ;)

I'd hope that Nic and Seb wouldn't be tempted to sell it to him - can you imagine seeing "P Diddy" in the title bar of every page like you do over there ?

i'd have to agree with the jealousy comment. it's not fair to criticize david for spending his money on things he loves. everyone of us would do the same if we had the same opportunities. i would love to go see the Saville Exhibition. i'd also love to get the chance to flip through David's record collection.

I've seen some of his collection in Miami a while back. He played some VHS vids from New Order and Revenge too. Was nice from him actually.

Having met David, he's a nice guy, and very dedicated to his pursuit of everything New Order. Fair play to him on that front - as a fellow webmaster he could have been a bit more ethical on his site construction though !

It's true he seems to have unlimited funds sometime, I still wonder how many people are crazy enough to pay a flight from Miami to London just to see the Peter Saville exhibition...

I think he's a bit sad. He admits paying a lot of money for a bass like Hooky; which he's going to learn to play: like who I wonder? I guess if Hooky wants somebody to sell his old undies too he doesn't have to look too far does he?

I'm really at a loss here to understand all of the sniping.

The guy is clearly a fan...like the rest of us. His site often is the source of news that later makes it here...

I've been outbid by him several times but so what...at least I know that the item is going to a true fan rather than say some 80's collectible scalper who would just resell it later....

The best thing I've found about NO fans is their genuine altruistic spirit when it comes to each other as fans. Countless times people on this site have offered, made and sent copies of "hard to find" recordings (at their own expense) to even the newest of posters....

ok I'm gettin off the soapbox now... sorry if I;m ranting here but I had to get it out.

only started the thread as was chuffed with a few minutes to go to be getting the promo thing for a tenner that i had seen go for nearer to a hundred only to have it cruely snatched away at the last second - wasnt having a go at anyone, just venting.

sorry if you thought that this was directed at you...I didn't think that you were sniping...obviously not everyone on the thread was...

David is often the target of derision on this board...actually its really funny sometimes...but today I guess that it kinda bugged me seeing as how he is a true fan and all...

my 2 cents...
