I won an auction tonight for the "best of" US, one of the few CDs I don't have yet (I have the canadian version, as you know, it doesn't have the same tracklisting)

Got it for 4$, which is a pretty good deal I think, but then I receive the mail from the seller, from Texas.

She asks me 8$ USD for shipping to Canada.. it would cost me 14$ to get a new one off Amazon.com, do I look stupid? :wtf:

I checked the USPS website, a CD + jewel case is said to weigth 3.7 Oz, the price for a global priority shipping to Canada is... 4$

Who is trying to rip people off?

Never trust anyone who gives shipping prices for the US and then an "overseas" fee.. as far as I know, I'm not overseas!!

I would just like to say, that not all Texans think Canada is overseas.....some of us went to high school and yes, even college :lol:

I had one recently who charged me £2.50 postage. Stamps to the value of 57p were on the parcel when it arrived. I hate coonts like that.

that packagings pretty expensive stuff....

cost me £2.20 to post 3 cds to argentina recently - they said at the post office it would be over £4 unless i wrote the words "small package*" on the envelope!

(*though why they had to bring a shug reference in is beyond me)

i know what you all mean with the postage costs some dealers try and charge what they want. the same applies to paypal fees some people say add 30p to every pound or some say 50p for every pound. does anyone actually know what the fees are? regards steve smith :)

yeah...and lets not forget the insurance as well...I only pay for it if its shipped overseas to me in the states...

like from Canada for example :D

I sold something on eBay recently... and had the opposite experience. I quoted shipping for a 15 pound item at $8.99. I didn't do my homework beforehand... and the winner was in California (I'm in New York).. It cost me $18.00 to ship the item. Basically, I took a bath! So, I courteously explained the situation to the winning bidder, and asked her if she'd consider reimbursing me some or all of the extra cost. Of course, she refused. Ah well - let the seller beware!

When I won an auction for PCL coloured vinyl, the seller in Germany quoted me 60 euros for registered post to Oz, I eventually got him to send it for 22 euros with ins. This whole eBay thing has pissed me off badly, I don`t use it anymore, besides its mostly junk that gets traded. The demise of eBay is nigh...once bitten twice shy :nod:

Or it was shipped via the Atlantic Ocean, Europe, Russia, Canada (which obviously is overseas to the States as mentioned before) and then to California.

Now that you mention it.. maybe the Great Lakes can be considered as "seas"... St-Lawrence river as well :D

Altough if we were in Europe, those lakes would be called seas :D
