some time ago on the website there was a link for new order/depeche mode remix cd's. i can't remember the name of the website. firstly, are they any good and if so, can anyone tell me the web address (i think it was a u.s website). cheers

i take it from the replies so far these aren't any good. also what did razormaid do to piss everyone off?
I actually liked it. It was kind of an hassle to fill out the release forms and mailing it out just to buy a CD. I love the Spooky mix on it. I've never been a fan of that song.

Threatened court action with anyone who wanted to buy "their" product. You can't buy it as a gift for anyone, can't buy more than one copy etc etc - quite ironic that they were so paranoid with their music security arrangements to the extent of threatening litigation just for expressing an interest, but they had a fundamentally unsafe credit card form on their website that even a novice hacker could exploit. It didn't help that the chief razormaid mouthpiece was an opinionated arsehole, either.
I'm usually not a big fan of remixes either. but once in awhile one comes along that catches my attention like the spooky remix mentioned about, the Korma and bones remix of confusion.

Well I still hope Razormaid reads this site, because if they do, they will learn that at least one of NewOrderOnline's webmasters, in this case ME, THINKS THESE REMIXES SUCK BIG TIME. As a matter of fact, it's a shame to dare calling most of these tracks "remixes" because they are just audio cut & paste stuff.
If I had to do it all again, I think I would tell them to go to hell.
Besides, after getting these CDs and realising they were HOME MADE CD-Rs WITH STICKERS, and listening to those "remixes", I came to think that these were nothing but BOOTLEGS and that the supposed deal they got with Warner/Reprise and/or London Records would definitly need to be investigated.
I hadn't time to do this work at the time, but now I have and it would be very interesting to discover that Razormaid does not have the deal they say they have, and are just a sorry bunch of bad bootleggers.

The Vanishing Point remix (well, mix of the original + making out mix) turns out to be really enjoyable..
I'd like to get hold of these, as I love remixes, and from what I've heard on their site they sound fine. What's all this stuff about bootlegs? They are clearly remixed and mastered from originals - unless this is another of their jokes? Certainly, if you follow the other thread http://www.neworderonline.com/thread.asp?action=search&thread\_id=7863&forum\_id=1 it's hilarious; especially where they mention how many people they've had jailed, and then how they refused to send a copy to somebody in Florida because the people there are such arseholes (I hope David Sultan's seen this), brilliant: I assume their point is; don't rip us off! Fair enough. However, I'm not happy about using their dodgy order form, and would like to contact them direct about this and check postage to the UK; anybody got their e-mail?
Martin, even if their remixes were "legit", that wouldn't make them any better.
Basically, that's the point -- as a consumer, I would feel ripped to buy these, really. Unless you enjoy extended versions of New Order songs made by pasting bits of an existing remix and an existing dub.
Really, if this is legit, then Razormaid have been getting royalties out of New Order work, because beside the Subculture mixes (which are good -- the only one worthy), they did not add anything musicwise. Thet just played around with existing material.
Very disappointing.
But have you got their e-mail? I'd still like to give them a go - some of the tracks I've listened to sound completely different - Spooky for example.
When I came across Razormaid mixes on the Web of Evil, I thought he was some sort of amateur bootleg-mixer guy. The idea that people should pay for this sort of stuff is ridiculous.
I find this really bizarre. Razormaid are a well respected DJ remixing service (2 guys), whose livelihoods have been threatened by the fact that people were taking their stuff and breaking their licensing agreements, which they've agreed with the artists and their record companies, and consequently had to be seen to be squeaky clean or they'd go out of business. Anybody who's interested in remixing - as New Order clearly are - should welcome interpretations of the group's material; as I do. All I want is their e-mail address. Please.
