Human League

The girlfriend's mother has got a catalogue for Butlins(!). It's hilarious to see the range of 'Once Were Famous' artistes who are 'touring' Butlins this season - Human League, Imagination(!), Heaven 17(!!), Limahl, Kim Wilde, Paul Young, etc. Quite sad to see really when you consider that - on their day - all these artists outsold the Order though now have to resort to such venues. I mean, I can just hear 'Fascist Groove Thang' banging out to the old dears at Butlins. C'mon now, sing along everyone.
It may be explained by the current HMV sale (but it may not be!). They sell CD's at £2.99 which are then bought in massive quantities. Recently Lou Reed's "Transformer" and that first crock of shite from Frankie Goes to Hollywood has done the same, but with higher chart placings.

You know which Heaven 17 song really makes me sick now when I listen to it? It's "Temptation" It's got nothing to do with the fact that it's been a NO title, more like it's the one sodding song you can GUARANTEE you hear whenever Glenn Gregory does his cabaret turn wherever the fuck he may show up. To think I used to not mind the song too much. Now overfamiliarity has completely turned me off it: what fucky yucky that one is!! There's loads of these bands who will forever be remembered for just one song - their biggest hit: Danny Wilson will always be remembered for "Mary's Prayer" (and even to this day, if they should reform, you can bet on that being the one song they'll perform again) and Dexys for fucking "Come On Eileen" Any other such unflushable turds that come to mind?
I stand by my original comment on the League, way back in March or April:
Human League: "Don't You Want Me Baby?"
Music fans: "No!"
Thank you, thank you very much, you're too kind.....

Funny you should say that, but Duran Duran were last week at number 34 with Greatest.... for fellow Duran fans it was all rather exciting, but I know (realistically) it will be short lived...
I used to have a Phil Oakey hairdo... but thats another story...

hahaha
I used to LOVE "Just An Illusion" from Imagination as a kid! And did Limahl do ANYTHING ELSE than singing the NeverEnding Story Theme song? In any case, here's another track that left its mark in my childhood.
*SIGH* Souvenirs.... ![]()

I saw Limahl on TV not to long ago. Its bad enough that he deems himself worthy enough for a comeback, but hes doing it with the same hairdo... eww...

Ah yes....Imagination: Leeeeeeeee John and those ridiculous Brillo Pads on his chest....my fave of theirs has to be : "MEEEWWW-ZICK AND LIIIIGHTSS!!" What a great song that was!!
And "Souvenir" too by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - they were massive then weren't they? I was a big fan for many years...but then I discovered New Order and my affection kinda gravitated towards them. Mind you - if you listen carefully to the heavenly chorus of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" (not that song again!), you may notice the instrumentation bears a striking resemblance to the sound on OMD's "Joan Of Arc" single from"Architecture and Morality". I do hope I'm not the only person who has noticed this.
Oh God, I am excelling myself being anal this time......groan....

This androginous specimum known as "Limahl" was ,by curious fate,an entertainer of sorts, who would rise up every few weeks to grace us with his existance on the top combo show known as Top of the Popular Hit Parade. He performed with his combo, known as The Kajagoogoos(I kid you not).He also suffered with a constant desire to sing badly with interesting hair, like Phil Oakey of The Human League combo. I hope this has been of some assistance to you.;)

LIMAHL was the one we called "BADGER MULLET".... and the rest of KajaGormless just looked like a bunch of Day-glo Futurist Doilies. Their insipid music was highly influential, however - even Stevie Wonder did a cover of their massive hit "The Big Apple".......what else do you need to know (except that this should be an issue for the "FAVE" CRAP BANDS THREAD........OBVIOUSLY!!!)
