Curiously, UK's version of "(The Best Of) New Order" actually includes this wonderful track - even though it's the only song on the compilation that wasn't actually an official single. I also know that the US version features different tracks to the UK one. Strange.

As it happens, Seb, you're not......I've included that track on my own exclusive "Substance 1987-95" sequel CD compilation I put together for myself. I think it's the best track on"Republic" after "Regret", which doesn't really say much about the LP as a whole, does it? Did you ever remember that, months before "Republic" came out, Hooky was quoted in some of the UK music papers as saying that New Order were planning to title the album "Everyone Everywhere" but then decided to change it shortly before release?
I was fairly indifferent to "Everyone Everywhere" until they played it at Reading '93. Rarely has a song made more sense at a particular moment in time than this. Loved it ever since......
Interesting titbit from Martin above: perhaps "E.E." was a bit too close to the bone to use as a title, given "Republic"'s mass-marketing promotional push and santitized version of the N.O. sound....??

Seb, I love "Everyone Everywhere", its one of my all time faves, not just of New Orders, it ranks of my top ten list of all time (I dont actually have a list, im not that sad, its just a figure of speech! lol).
I would go with either that, "Love Vigilantes" or "Your Silent Face"....

You have a very good memory, Mr. Gray, which only shows how pure and intact a New Order fan you are! (I'm trying to sound like Huntsman)
I still have a tape of one of my radio shows I used to do in College and it was your typical "alternative music & novelties" type of show, and at one occasion, I mentionned that New Order were working on their new album (it was in Autumn 1992) and that the name of the album would be Everyone Everywhere.
It would sound weird to say that nowadays!
And I completely agree that it's the second best song on Republic! I may be naive to say this, but I think that a radio remix could have done well on the charts because it has a very nice vibe to it and a catchy chorus.

I do agree with you, Geoffie. I really don't see the point in releasing 3 or 4 singles from a 10 song album. IMHO, no single should have been released from Getting things Ready, but Behind Closed Doors, Player in the League, Sabottage and Run this River Dry should have been released as one or two EP's before the album. regarding this, the future release of the NO vs Chem's EP is a very good news.

sure, it's one of their shortest track i guess it's a personal thing but the lyrics remind me of the current state of affairs with my relationship
