NewOrder's Drug usage.

Hi all,

I was just wondering if the band is still heavy into the drugs; especially Barney??? I would think now, since Barney is married and has a family, that he is off the heavy drugs....hopefully.

I would say the drugs are not as big a part of their lives as they used to be and thats probably a good thing!

What's your definition of 'heavy' drugs. They were never in to brown, but i would imagine a bit of charlie and some pills would slide now again (look at 316dvd for ecstacy usage) but nowhere as near as much as they used to. I dont think they are completely born again in that respect.

so they say. personally,ive always been a bit dubious about barneys claims that hes never been a heroin user...wasnt manchester the heroin capital of europe in the 80s(hence nicos presence) and didnt he spend a lot of time in the company of the happy mondays. ok, obviously this is just speculation, but our bernard is hardly known for his restaint..

Well, to be honest, seeing as they are all in their 40's now, dont they look fucking good?? Hardly an advert for the bad effects drugs have on your lives. Somehow i dont think New Order will ever appear in a Government Information Film about how drugs can ruin your life. Barney looks positively glowing, even after all these years. Whatever they took, they certainly look good on it....

I bet if you asked them they wouldnt have a fucking clue, the past 20 years are probably something of a blur to them....

in my opinion you've only got to listen to the music to know it's not the type made by smackheads & just because you spend time in another smackheads company it doesnt mean you do it - i like shaun ryder but he if anything would put me off smack. I seem to remember barney on startest saying he would do anything once but then re thought and said if you put him next to shaun there's a lot of things he wouldnt do.

hmm, what type of music is the type made by smackheads? anyway never suggested barney was a smackhead. if he had been wed probably know about it(although frankly he was pretty fucking gaunt looking). im just dubious about his claims that he`s "never touched heroin", especially considering the fact that there were bound to be plenty of opportunities to try it. he may have tried it and hated it, who knows? like i said its just idle speculation.
