Regardless of how it's pronounced, this is one of the best songs on Low-Life. All those in agreement say 'aye' (or similar affirmation).

Aye Aye Pope, top song. Where was it debuted live? Quite late compared to the rest of the album. A pleasant surprise to hear this song for the first time when the album came out.
One of my favourite New Order tracks - mainly because it's so different to the rest and also so different to what most bands were producing at the time.
Aye! Their best instrumental songs! The Peter Saville Show Soundtrack is only a poor attempt at recreating it. By the way, did some of you notice that the same voices can be heard on the full version of Elegia and on the Peter Saville Show Soundtrack? (Or are they just voices in my head? 
)

At the time they were, but they sound a little dated now, apart from maybe Love Vigilantes.
I've got alot of affection for that album, and I think trhe band did too as those songs dominated their sets for awhile ( I rember in Atlanta on the brotherhood tour being shocked that they only played about 3 songs off the new album that they were supposedly promoting and gave us the majority of low-life and that wasn't the only show like that from that era). That said there is something very flat and, i agree, dated about the production or something. It's just very cold and lifeless.
Elegia gets 
Low-Life is a decapitating record. and for all you in disagreement, try keeping the songwriting and production elements apart. the production may be dated, but the songs are timeless.

True. I can't quite get the abandoning of the perfect kiss though. For a while it was the linchpin of their live set. It could be jawdroppingly devastating on a given night. moreso than temptation or blue monday. maybe barney lost the cowbell?

that doesn't say anything as to wheither those tunes are good or not. so new order doesn't have fun playing those songs anymore... big deal. those ditties are pushing 20. have YOU ever written a song you've played for more than even 5 years? i have and after the fifth year, it starts to get really old. that is why bands do NEW albums.
I still listen to Low Life, my record player has no problems playing it, so who gives a fuck if Barney can get through even HALF the songs without a teleprompter? the stuff is still good, and it kicks the shit outta Republic.

Just goes to show how weak their songs have gotten since then. They completely ignore the bulk of their best material and stick with, as was suggested, a "cabaret" of hit singles. Who the fuck wants to hear BLT or BM another time? I haven't even seen them live before and I'd get bored from hearing those songs so many times, live or otherwise. They should pull out the Taras Shevchenko setlist and wail away.

They seem to think that everyone wants to hear True Faith, BLT, Temptation and Blue Monday. Truth is that we are all heartily sick of them every gig !
