In spring 1984, there was a rumour going around that New Order were to appear on the epic chidrens show 'Cheggers Plays Pop' toplay their single 'Thieves Like Us'.

Around the time of GR's release, someone floated around the possibility of an appearence on SNL for our erstwhile heroes, seemingly dependent on how the album did. Alas, it did alright but not great, and the SNL gig never materialized....
(I still wish somebody like Conan would book them, though)
New Order 'splitting up' in the 1980s, front page news in the UK music press - just before they released State Of The Nation (I think) My memory is a bit hazy about that time period... 
That really upset me...
Then the splitting up rumours of 1993, just after I saw them at Reading... Then the splitting up rumours through the 90's...
I heard somewhere a few years back that Ian Curtis had died, but apparently he's just been the laziest member of the group. :D
