Go figure.. you search "New Order" on Google, and for an unknown reason, we're not even in the list now... neither is the "other site"...

if you search "neworder" we are though.

Something smells fishy..

What did you type?

Ehr, "new order". First site "neworder.box.sk". Second "neworderonline". Google Brasil - It's automatic, I can't use the international one.

I typed between commas - " ". Without them there's about 8 million matches.

Google US and UK returns no NOOL results within the top 20 when you tyoe 'New Order'. 'Neworder' returns rankings of 3 and 4 respectively. To explain slightly (Nic, check your email) the whole Google search/submission process changed around 4 weeks ago. This is due to Google being used by another 2 major search engines to obtain results and by another 4 search robots/spiders.

SES is an ever-evolving process - if you don't keep up with it, your list rankings drop.

Anyone at NOOL - if you have a website and you can give me a NOOL login name, I'll happily analyse your META tags/keywords,descriptions,etc. for free. Lots to consider on top of all that. Just email me at: thirt33nth_man@hotmail.com

Anyway, enough of being a smartass - I can't imagine ANY site will ever take over from NOOL as being the definitive NO/JD reference point for anyone seriously interested in the band(s)

So again, well done Nic & Seb

I just typed "new order" and nool came up second just like our friend from Brazil says....

I'm here in California and Google is one of my customers so if we have any probs I'll make sure that it gets sorted out!

cheers...

I get the French Google and it does exactly the same, when you type "new order" you do not get NOOL at all (well, not within the first twnty results) but if you type "neworder" it's the second result you get.

Considering that NewOrder (with no space) has been the official name of the band for some time now...

Actually, when you typed new order without any quotes, we used to be 1st.. now we're SECOND when you type it WITH quotes... ie "new order"

:lame:

I'll read the Chris Nash Idiot Guidebook to Google :evil4:

the Dutch Google gives as result neworderonline as the first result when searching with the quotes.

neworder: second result

new order: within the first 30 results no NOOL

Google has been the subject of much discussion in the world of IT recently, it has been suggested that their results page does not reflect accurately what it's searchers may be looking for. Some organisations, it has been suggested pay to jump up the ranks. I can't find the article that first alerted me to this, however this link points to the site that did - and one of the articles http://www.theregister.com/content/archive/31526.html. I recommend theregister.com for all cynical IT folks.

p.s. would you trust a site that advertises so heavily to be impartial.

True, FDISK, but just about every search engine has a paid-inclusion option now. There are ways round it where, if you know the short-cuts you can circumvent some problems, but generally, it's the luck of the draw. Some always draw luckier than others though...

Care to elaborate, are there ways to tweak the meta tags to optimise your site listings we webmasters should know about. ;)

Lucian, email me at: chrisnash@mrnice.co.uk - happy to provide advice on specific sites free, as long as people are registered NOOL members.
