PLAN K FOOTAGE CONFIRMED Name: Intermission Date Posted: Sep 4, 03 - 12:50 AM Message: If I can recall correctly, the man who is selling me the Malcolm Whitehead Film's (he says it is actually a run time of about 21 mins) name is Allen (only 35 dollars!) Another man by the name of Phillpe (indicating he is of french descent) came onto my chat today and we became very talkative about Joy Division. I told it him it was a shame that there are only 3 real videos that hint at their existence. He then tells me he has footage from 16-10-79 Plan K at Brussles. I am shocked and perplexed at this as I remember the opening footage in HATYM. He tells me he is still a big fan and that when he was living in Brussles, apparently a friend of his videotaped a large part of the concert (for personnal enjoyment). AND THIS GUY HAS IT IN HIS POSSESSION, it's not Super 8 (thank god) and the clarity is rather good. He tells me that there are only 7 ( not counting Atrocity Exhibition cuts) songs on this videotape as the early songs were missed due to his friend's lateness. He tells me this friend was actualy a regular gig-goer at the Plan K venue and he had a huge interest in the band and videotaped them at his own leisure. The 7 songs videotaped he tells me are: IN ORDER:
- Something Must Break (only 2nd time ever played live)
- Shadowplay
- Transmission
- Novelty (this track Ian is strumming along, rythym playing)
- These Days (my personal favourite)
- New Dawn Fades
- Atmosphere
- Atrocity Exhibition (although there is no actual footage of this one you can hear the song being played. This was the final song played that night. There are problems with the camera which is a shame.) It is guessed that there are in between 2-4 songs missed earlier in the concert. He has sent me about 15 pictures of the actual video and some shots of the movie playing in his VCR (greatness!). He tells me it is for North-American VCR's (NTSC)even though he moved from Belgium long after it was taped. Well, he knows it is rare and isn't skimpy on prices. He offered it to me for 80 dollars and I will gladly go along. I will know have in my pocession one of the rarest JD treasures of all time. I am yet to know if the song most widely seen on HATYM is among these songs taped as I have not recieved the video yet. I wonder how much these lost treasures could fetch on eBAY??????) bye
