Although the US is more artistic... I prefer the UK one in studio... However I didn't remember Bernard with so long hairs..

yes, i go for the UK version too. is more simple, but the 3 of them seems to be very relaxed, which works perfect with the mood of the song.

UK version! no doubt. the other one is nice, but the other one just fits the song so much better and the emotion, and even the dry humor of it all.
but wtf is with the parrot, cockatoo about 1:11, 1:12 into it?!? Is that a Moz reference, perhaps? Since he had/has one of those.

It's probably a remnant from the original video for the song which was directed by French documentary filmmaker Chris Marker, whose films often feature animals. I would imagine that Michael Shamberg probably arranged this; he had collaborated with Marker around that time.
From the book "Chris Marker: Memories of the future" by Catherine Lupton:
... Marker's sole venture into directing a pop video, for Electronic's hit "Getting away with it" (1990). The band had rejected Marker's effort (the story goes that Marker had had part of the video filmed in the Chateau de Sauvage wildlife park, and the band's singer Bernard Sumner hated animals), and so it passed into [Marker's video installation] "Zapping Zone" ...
