Barney recently said on MTV2 that he might put out a best of, with two new tracks. Interested?

Seeing as I've already got all Electronic's stuff, I'm only really interested in the two new tracks! Now if he released a double CD, one of singles and one of b-sides/mixes, I'd be very interested!

Would be interested in the two new tracks if they're from the electronic or TT era. I can do w/o anymore RTP material.
I thought Johnny Marr had recently mentioned a similar release, but that his comments indicated that it would include numerous unreleased tracks.

And release one of these tracks as a single to support it; maybe even Barney could do a couple of interviews. With proper promotion it could shift a fair few units...

Especially because it would finally give a chance for an Electronic DVD copilation to be released at the same time.
I'd buy it, but it wouldn't generate the same kind of excitement as a New order release for me.
I'd buy a copy for every day of the week, though I'm sure I'd disagree with the choice of tracks. I'm more keen on a DVD. But it's all good.
i am also more interested in a dvd-compilation of their videos. Definitively would buy that...
I'd definitely be interested in an Electronic best of release, providing it was handled correctly and gave us something new or unreleased as an incentive. I have three iTunes playlists on my iPod which I consider a pretty good "Electronic Anthology", hang on and I'll post the tracklistings. The first two discs were loosely based on an official best of tracklisting rumoured to appear post-2000 but never materialised. I included a remix disc because Electronic has a decent amount of remixes, some pretty good.
There's enough room on the "...Best!" and "...Flipside!" discs for at least three new unreleased tracks or possibly an old track idea reworked as a new single to put a full stop on the first disc and two leftover ideas to finish the second. I hope Barney and Johnny are taking notes 
While they're at it, chuck a remix of the "new single" to complete the third disc.

I'd definitely buy the above providing it was properly levelled/remastered plus came with a DVD disc of videos and interviews or something. You could chuck in a limited edition DVD with the first 2000 copies or something as an added bonus for fans bored of decaying VHS bootlegs:

I wouldn't hold your breath for any sort of release like this though 
Electronic made 3 albums so there's no point in a best of. A collection of b-sides would be welcomed but how many are gonna want to buy that?

As the poll currently says at this point in time 29 people would buy it and 3 wouldn't 
Assuming of course a Best Of encompasses a disc with bsides and some rarities.
I reckon that if Electronic are finished then this release is possible. I suppose Barney would have to get consent from Johnny though; which may be a sticking point if he's not getting on with Barney, or if he thinks there is a slim chance that Electronic may be resurrected one day...
Considering the more-or-less 'fans only' release of WFTSC 7" I reckon anything is possible!
May I suggest a better idea? Parlophone, please release a dual CD + DVD. It's getting a common practice now, and it's good both for the label and the fans, since it does not require a separate DVD release, which is a headache sometimes marketing-wise. :\ohwell:
The example of the Sounds and Sights of Summer, a recent Beach Boys compilation is a perfect example. First they released just a compilation and then, a few months later, they released the same compilation backed with a DVD. A neat idea.

I asked him about a comp some time back on www.jmarr.com in the Q&A section. I was pushing for him to clear out the studio cupboards and he said one of the suggested names for a comp was 'Light Of Day' at that time, sure it has moved on now. He said he would try to make it interesting.
I'd love things like that gorgeous, shimmering 12 string acoustic led take on NEW RELIGION, which featured in that Prozac program for example but I don't think he knew what had been done with that. Nor could he recall what the FREE WILL spoken sample was, does anyone know here?
Anyway - I'm dying for an Electronic compilation, I think the proposed track-listings here are spot-on.

I would definitely buy it, and would hope that a DVD release would occur simultaneously (although that never happened with the recent Revenge compilation)... 
A best of will happen one day. It might not be soon,but Sumner & Marr are both too high profile for one not to appear. A disc of NEW remixes would be nice too.
The only thing better than a new CD is a tour to match, at places you wouldent tink of. Like RAF Fairford, UK or Portage, Alaska USA or even the North Eastern part of Russia!
Relations between Mr. Marr and Mr. Sumner must be good as they are both appearing at Manc Aid.
Hopefully item1 on their agenda is discussing this release...
Interesting that the release date is almost exactly a week after the MvC gig; a belting version of Some Distant Memory wouldn't go amiss as some promo, would it? Not that I'm getting carried away or anything. :)
What's 'King for a day' and 'Warning sign' on?
I have to say I hate Best Of's. What's the point if you already have the tracks on other albums? I bought the Revenge one last year because there was the Gun World Porn EP and some B-sides which I didn't have, but unless there's about 4+ new tracks, I don't see the point.
king for a day and warning sign were supposed to be on twisted tenderness, but eventually came out as b-sides on some promo songs from the album and the twisted tenderness deluxe album.

Hi, I was over the moon when I first heard about the release of a Best Of Electronic cd,I noticed it in the pre order section on hmv.co.uk.I guess like many others I have been waiting for a Best Of cd to be released for years. I would love to see a limited edition with a bonus dvd featuring all of the promo videos.I would also like to see previously unreleased material on the cd.Did Neil only record 3 songs with Electronic or are there some unreleased songs in the vaults?I would also like to have a few remixes/mixes on there.,maybe unreleased mixes if there are any. I hope that there will be a good advertising campaign for this release.

I think this project is gonna be like 'Retro', i.e. it will come out but God knows when, all we know is by the time it does come out it'll've changed from anything we're imagining here. So why waste time thinking about it until we've got definite news? Remember the 'Recycled' box set idea? oF all the singles? Some of us even bought T-shirts of the artwork didn't we? And what happened...

I would definitely purchase a copy of any future Electronic material. Definitely unfinished business out there.

You have a point :( HMV are far from reliable but I do think we'll see an Electronic 'best of' of some description. It just depends on how much work Barney, Johnny and the label have put into it. We could end up with a boring retread of everything we already have or something along the lines of Hooky's One True Passion v2.0 project with all the best bits remastered and some brand new material.
If a single disc is all they're bothering with I hope it includes these 2 "new" tracks and utilises every second of the 80 minutes available. They have 3 albums and a fair few singles/promos to draw on!
Has anyone heard anything more about this, other than the HMV page (and other sites mentioning the release date)?
Seems a bit strange that no other information has been posted anywhere else, and it's certainly not on the EMI home page...

Right, I think I know what's happened now. It was a very special limited edition release available only on HMV. There were less than a hundred copies and once they'd been pre-sold it was deleted.
This is a re-posting of a response I made on 'that other Electronic best of?' thread that is floating about, for what it is worth - seeing how much interest there is in this would suggest that people have got their hopes up for it. I don't any more. Of course there is always the possibility that another label is doing it but that would be unlikely.

There is nothing on the EMI site site and this is because there is crucially nothing on their release schedule with regards to an Electronic release, as revealed to me by a friend's contact at EMI here in the UK. He has heard absolutely nothing about any plans or activity to do with the band and I would have hoped he would have at this stage. The HMV link meant nothing to him either so I very much doubt a product will appear on their release date. Looking on the bright side, it might mean we could still be in with a shout for 2 discs...if and when it actually happens etc.
Rest assured, said contact is on the case and will alert/wake me if there are any developments.
All this confusion underlines how cool Shugz's DVD project is - as we already know, this once again just shows how you certainly can't expect any pleasant surprises from the record company (or the musicians for that matter), hence people taking matters into their own (more competent) hands to sort it out as it should be done.

I'm also wrapping up a best of Electronic with help from the band - that should be out late summer/early fall.
