Here's what Pottsy sent in his newsletter today:

CELEBRITY BASSIST !

Oh yes! One song is getting bass overdubs from a certain old friend. You heard it here first, guesses on the message board ..

And, hum, some people already knew about it but were told to keep it for themselves, so now that the cat is out of the bag...

I have no information on the actual work itself though...

So I suppose this is a RAM + Hooky track...?

Pottsy is such a great guy

It's a real shame that Monaco finished because I haven't seen him in ages and we used to have a good laugh.

good times:nod:

I miss Monaco as well... but as long as Hooky is doing something I'm happy... That's the good thing about Barney and Hooky> They are both too fidgety to sit around without writing something whether NO is happenning or not.

I guess the down side is that you don't get to see much of your Dad seeing as he's all over the world DJing, NOing and doing other bits like this RAM thing or Freebass...

Anyway: Get to bed young man- It's late!

If it's really David Potts, then that would be awesome!

I owe him a beer for handing Hooky the bass and saying "play the cunt...you're Peter Hook!"

Have you seen the BBC "rock family trees" about Manc/NO ?[1]

It's actually quite emotional....something of the old samuari, the retired gunslinger, taking up his tools once more to do what HE and ONLY HE can do. Does NOT help that the man himself is chokin up while relating the story, or that Pottsy's got a grin like a cheshire cat on 6 E's when he's talking about sort of poking and prodding him.

I think I'll make that my NYD entertainment actually.

I FAR prefer Monaco to Revenge, the whole thing seems far more natural, less forced...dunno, that's not the right phrase, but there's a better vibe about it. Not too sure about ALL the songs tho, there's a whiff of oasis going on on the green album, tho not on MFP.

[1] If not, and there's no tape lying around the ranch, lemme know....I can stick it on the webserver, or bittorrent it somewheres for ya.

Off work and imobilized......so it's either TV or NOOL :D

Good news is, they start fixing me soon.....should be back at my shite job by summer, then I'll only be here a coupla times a day.....which means I'll do what I used to do....get lost in the sheer volume of things and fuck off for weeks, only surfacing for a hit and run gobshiting fest once in a while.

I'd like to see that.

Good to see Hoky/Potsy working together again - they created some top tracks:clap:

Steve: Looks like i'll be 'up north' around your area end-of-january - 'working'!, - i'll give you a shout when i'm passing bangor:thumb:

Very interesting, I presume this is a case of Hooky guesting on a single RAM track rather than a full blown Monaco reunion?

Oh and Nic (or Wen), if you get a sec could you shift this thread to the Music for pleasure forum as it is technically a side project topic? The forum's kinda underused enough as it is and something like this would be quite good for people posting etc. Cheers!

Steve, I haven't even heard of said documentary!! So yeah I don't own it, could you find someway of showing it?

I dunno you could email me a link or something? I'm not very good at this kinda really technical stuff.

I'll look for it now and mail you a link (sorry guys I can't publish the link here cos

  1. It's BBC and I'm scared :) and
  2. the webserver's gonna crak under the weight of ONE person downloading it)

If anyone knows a decent public tracker where anyone can join I'll stick it up there for Y'all after I sort his nibs here out.

EDIT: I just picked up a 50 stack of DVD's and "cut the deck" at random....out fell the right disc :D Of course now I've boasted about that, it'll either have read errors, or my catalogue is wrong and it'sthe wrong disc.

fuck'em, we all pay the license fee (don't we) so we've paid for it already, the beeb should do a proper public service and have all their archives availab;e for download anyway.

that's my rant out of the way.

happy new year, hope you're up and about and swinging yer bass soon steve.

I have an audioclip (MP3) of the bit in Rock Family Trees where Hooky and Pottsy are talking about Monaco. I originally made it for my Monaco site in the late nineties but if anyone would like it now, let me know. My email address is below.

It's about 2.3mb.

Yeah he is a great bloke the few times I met him. A real laugh and not arrogant. He just always was thrilled to be working with Hooky. Lucky bloke!

A point to note (unless you've already been to the Community 2 forum) is that Pottsy is also recording a cover version of New Order's "The Village" for NewOrderOnline's recently unveiled Community 2 project.

For more information on Pottsy's involvement and how you can enter a NOOL contest to remix his cover version or make a video for it, click the link below:
